Also, are there any leaks? Have you filled the system with the proper 50/50 G13 mix?

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
Hi,
New to this forum and nice to see comments from experts.
Planning to buy an A4 2002 1.8T Manual. Just test drove this one. The clutch biting point found at a a bit higher position. Also, during idling, the car jitters a bit(not really vibrating) and the owner told me it's because of the clutch. ABS and O2 sensors warning signs are on.
Can you please tell what could approximate times clutch, ABS control module and O2 sensor would need to be replaced?
Also, there is a chip installed to boost the power. I have heard that drive shafts may get issues due to high power since they are designed for a certain power range? Does this sound like a threat to the drive shaft?
Thanks

A slightly higher engagement point as felt through the pedal is not necessarily a 'bad' thing. These systems are hydraulic and are self-adjusting to some extent (cable vs hydraulic is another debate for another time ). Anways, the clutch is not slipping correct? Can you clarify the jitter? Is the car in N or in gear?
With regards to replacement, once the clutch starts to slip or gear engagement becomes difficult (assuming no other trans issues such as flywheel, input, throwout etc), that would be an ideal time. For the ABS and 02, you would have to scan the vehicle and determine why these particular codes are being triggered.
Have you had a chance to scan the vehicle with VCDS for all pertinent codes?
There are software tunes provided by companies such as APR, Unitronic, GIAC. Do not worry about the driveshaft unless you are planning to go Stage 3+...by that time you will be putting down some monster numbers .

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
Hello calo,
To better help answer your question, what motor is on your A6? P2024 is a generic code for the EVAP system fuel temp circuit sensor circuit...have you had a chance to scan your vehicle with VCDS or a similar software for supplementary/pending codes?

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
Hey there , I have an 06 A4 2.0T , getting codes P0089 , and P2293 for fuel pressure regulator performance , and fuel pressure regulator 2 performance , also P0171 bank 1 sensor 1 lean . Car runs like or dies when this occurs . I looked at measuring block 106 with my vag-com field 1 was 49 bar for hp fuel rail which is good , field 2 for electric pump duty cycle is at 80% at idle and should be about 50% , which leads me to think fuel filter or in tank fuel pump is failing ....... any thoughts . HP fuel pump and cam follower were replaced about 1 yr ago and car runs strong otherwise
Is the car tuned or modded in any way?
Since you have VCDS and seem to be handy around a car, please read the below under the Service heading:
http://www.goapr.com/images/support/...7-69%20TSB.pdf
This procedure will rule out a possible faulty HPF sensor (known to be faulty; especially if you are still on your original one). There is also a LP sensor located on the HPFP, was that replaced as well when you did your HPFP?
P2293 refers to the FPR that is part of the HPFP. As you mentioned, you had yours replaced; so it still should be good. How was the follower when replaced? Checked cams?
Very unlikely but it would be worth a check on the electrical connectors for the LPFP.

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
hi i did post in the forum, i want to buy a used audi A4 orA6 auto awd. what is the best year for these cars,i have browsed some of the sale sites and see the auto trans seems to be an issue on some years. i would be looking for something under 200.000km. i will be looking this spring for one and it seems that i would spend between 3500 to 5000 and want something reliable as it would be my daily driver, any suggestions would be great. thanks mark
To better help answer you question, is it possible to narrow down the type of A4 or A6 you are looking at?
Between 2000 and today, the A4 came in 1.8T, 2.0T, 2.8V6, 3.0V6, 3.2V6 and the A6 cane in 2.7T, 3.0V6, 3.2V6, 3.0T and 4.2V8...each motor has its pros and cons, quirks and characteristics.
Audi auto transmissions in general are fairly decent (if maintained of course). Audi has no service intervals but we recommend a trans service (drain and fill, pan gasket, filter) every 40K or so. For a very quick overview of common issues, with the Tiptronic autos made by ZF you may encounter leaks from seals. The CVT models (usually found in FWD models) were very problematice due to Mechatronic failures (early B6). S-Tronic (DSG) have been fairly reliable with some exceptions on early S4 Mechatronic units.

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
Thanks for your help and reading my post.
My 06 audi a3 2.0T, my obd-II was showing timing over advanced for quite some time but it was normal driving. Recently during idle at a red light, the camshaft adjuster unit popped off and all the screws came off.Causing immediate engine shutdown and unable to start. We put placed the unit back in the engine, and attempted to adjusting the camshaft back to how it was originally where we marked it last when we changed the tensioner. However the engine is misfiring and the timing seems to be off badly due to very high level vibration. Do you think its the camshaft adjuster unit is causing the misfire? or is it something else? Because when I manually turn my camshaft, theres a delay in one of the camshafts in a certain position but it goes back to normal after an inch of rotation. So no matter much much I turn the crank it will have its original position I initially marked before the disaster.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey micheal.pang,
I will try and answer the issue but this is one of those situations where we would need to actually take a look at the car.
Couple of questions:
-With the over-advanced code, did you investigate it? Timing belt? (assuming you have a BPY)
-How did you install the adjuster?
-Did you remove the cams to reinstall the adjuster? Do you have the tool to align cams?
-Did you inspect cams?
-Did you inspect the adjuster, tensioner and chain for damage?
-What codes do you get? Aside from misfires
-Did you check for bent valves? Compression test performed?

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!
First of all, this is very nice of you helping around. Thank you in advance. Ill be short and concise.
Prequisites: Bought Audi Q5 2011, Automatic, 8 speed tiptronic
2.0 TFSI, Engine code: CAEB , 114000 Km, last Sunday.
Oil changed 4 days ago with 5W20 Synthetic, Germal Oil at 10 min oil Change.
Engine Idles at runnign temperature with 1.0 - 1.2 L/ Hour
Gas 94, Speed 120Km/h Hwy 407, from 404 to 437, average Gaz consumption 7.5L / 100Km
Performs extremmly well, I don's see problems, but...
I have some concerns, I could not find proper answers, people are saying different things about these.
1. I just found out about oil burn on CAEB engines. Is the oil consumption affecting all CAEB engines? How do I know ?
2. What is the normal engine idle L/H at normal running temperature. Mine is 1.0 to 1.2 L/Hour
3. If I take the engine cover aside, the engine noise is unusual, rattling & ticking like a broken
mechanism, though it seem it performs alittle better when accelerating. When decellerating I can hear som
puffs and other mechanisms working.
4. At idle the engine is slighty vibrating.
5. AFter I stop the engine I can hear a high frequency sound from the engine for 10 to 20 seconds ?
6. I cleaned the black exhaust before the oil change on both exhausts. I put 94 Ocatne Gas, New oil.
Today I checkd the exausts. They are black on the inner walls. Is this normal ?
Are these normal or I have to run a sesious check on the Car.
Thank you.

1. Audi considers 1L of oil consumed for every 1000KM as normal. Our opinion is different but you easily determine if your motor is within these guidlines by checking your oil level at this interval. Not every 2.0T burns oil but they are known to and the reason can be attributed to piston rings and the excessive 15K scheduled oil change interval.
2. This is within spec +10/-10%
3. You may be hearing the DI fuel system at work. However, enusre you are not hearing chain rattle on start up.
4. Very slight vibration is normal.
5. You may be hearing the throttle body doing an alignment or the aftercoolant pump for your turbo
6. Do you have any CELs? Is it the black residue very sooty? Do you see any blue smoke on start up if you leave the car sitting for a couple hours/overnight?
Some tips:
-A high quality 5w40 syn with OEM oil filter is a better choice than 0w20
-If you must use a 0w, a 0w40 would be a better choice
-The 10 Minute/Quick Lube oil change places do not usually use OEM filters; this may lead to oil pressure issues
-Change your oil every 7500KM max
-You said you just bought the car...did it come with a service history? Make sure the 110K KM major service was completed.
