My wife and I are both 70 years of age and since we wont be hot-rodding the car I would prefer to complete delete the rev limiter. Is this possible? Otherwise, what could be the cause of the low rev limiter? Thank you.

Hi Beezer,

A couple of questions. Does the cut off happen in every gear or just certain ones? The stock rev limit is 6600 +/-100 so there is something else going on here.

When it does hit the limit, do the needles on the dash almost seem as if they are resetting themselves? Early TTs had cluster problems where this very exact issue would occur.

Has the garage scanned the car for any codes?

I keep taking it in but because there is no check engine light on they are unable to get a hard code. I'm loosing it here!
Hey audidahottie,

When a CEL trips, the code is stored in memory. A VAGCOM scan should pull that code up...it would help in figuring out whats going on.

However, the almost stall points to a PCV or breather issue. . Have you had the intake system smoke tested at all? The 2.0T model A3s are known for breather/intake issues and actually have a 10yr/192KM service campaign...in Canada anyways.

Hey madgey2,

A couple of questions to help us figure out whats going on. Do you have access to VAGCOM for an output test on the compressor? You mentioned you had it charged...was it because of a leak or a replacement of a HVAC component (condensor/compressor etc)? Do the fans work?

If you would like, give us a shout and we can take a look...no charge or obligation.

Thanks for the reply MotorFabrik. I'll go get a battery, check the Alt. and work from there. No VAGCOM just a OBD2 meter. I'll be back!

Props to MotorFabrik!

I went for an 8K service for my A5 earlier this week. The team at MotorFabrik are professional, knowledgeable, helpful and do quality work for a decent price. Thanks, guys. If I didn't have Audi Care, I'd be there for every service interval.

I know there is a lot of post here and everywhere on the web but at your opinion, what is the best km to change belt and pump on 2.0T's ?

All dealer (VW and Audi) says 150 000km but some says 100 000km...

Hey Slyman,

Around 115-120K KM is our recommended interval. However, condition of the belt is also important...if it is ripped/frayed/damaged for any reason...replacement ASAP is strongly urged.

I am at 119K km and I have checked the belt this weekend with my father and and our opinion, the belt is in good shape, no sign of use, no crack, thooths are good, we still can see the written information on it and the edge of it is good also, no sign of detoriation.

I've bought the car at 89K (from A dealer here but car come from US) at that point of seeing the belt, I suspect the belt was already changed. For this year, I will let it in the car but I will replace in next spring. I will probably have 130K at that time.

And big thanks for your information.
