Default wipers just stopped. no washer fluid pumping either...

Hi.
my A8 wipers stooped working suddenly while in use and the column arm does not pump washer fluid either.
If I pull arm towards me no fluid. nothing. If I move arm up/down as if changing wiper speed, nothing responding either.
could it be a switch in column arm ? a fuse ? other ?

any thoughts much appreciated.

I'm not sure about the fluid part, but my wipers siezed last year. It was the wiper transmission, which is just a fancy name for the steel parts between the wiper motor and blades. Set me back $425 in my A4.... The A8 will probably be more.

It's quite common on many vehicles where the wiper motor isn't properly protected from the environment. As far as the washer jets, I'd check the voltage to them.

the solution was a simple 40amp fuse. any vw dealer has them

wiper shaft corrodes dissimilar metals and needs to be replaced or pulled and cleaned/lubed (this may not last long) The parts are cheap enough if you are able to pull it apart; this is a common VW/Audi issue and there are lots of YouTube vids on how to do it. Due to this you may have blown the fuse and lost the pump at the same time.
