Default Battery, Alternator, both or other? HELP!

K so i was driving the other night, battery light comes on, I didnt want to get towed so i kept going as far as i could, lights started going out, then ebc light etc, then critical failure, everything died. I took my battery to get tested and it said it was bad, so i got a new one. Put it in, and it was fine, drove for an hour or 2, then the battery light came on again, this time i made it home. The voltage dropped down to 11.5v instead of 14, which is what it's usually at on the gauge. I tried starting the car and disconnecting the battery, and it stays running. Makes me think the alternator is fine. No i'm stumped, is there a controller that works with the alternator and battery that could be gone? Or could it be something else?
She is parked until i can figure out what is going on

I can take any vag-com readings if needed.

Thanks

Could be voltage regulator, but on many Audis that is part of alternator. I'd check alternator output and load test battery. I've had new baterries that were bad. Hope you got either Audi OEM battery or Interstate. Those are only 2 that I found worked in my Audis over time. Also check for proper connections at battery.

I agree, all batteries are not the same, a guy on here had the same issue and he ended up getting the OEM battery and all seemed fine after that.

My friend just got an OEM battery from audi and the cca's were 650 (cold crank amp's) the battery i got is 800cca eliminator. I had a significantly smaller 650 in the car before. Is there a bank to read on the vag-com that i can see if it's functioning?

I also called audi today to see about a new alternator from them, remanufactured 550-650, and they have a new one for 1000!
talk about rip off

CT Eliminator is tempting, especially with warranty, but I had bad luck with crappy tire batteries in past. Eliminator would never fit into either of my Audis. Had 3 brand new crappy tire batteries that were faulty in a 4 month period. Service guys hated to see me show up again and again with faulty battery. They of course blamed the car. Had electrical system checked and it was fine. Replaced finally with OEM batt with lower CCA and yes, everything fine for more than 3 years. That was with my previous car.

Current car (2000 A8 ) is hard to find aftermarket batteries that will fit. So I've used OEM and so far only on 2nd battery after 8 years. Just load tested battery last week and it was still A-Okay. Call Charles Maxwell (former Audi mechanic) at 905-513-8400 and ask about rebuilt Alternator. I had mine done 2 years ago for only $400 through him. He's located at 7605 Woodbine just North of John in Markham. He's honest and not after your money like others.

I may return it, I heard the same thing from someone else. Fitment wise, it's perfect. and as far as the alternator, the pic show's where it USED to be lol. I yanked it out last night. Is there a way to test it outside the vehicle? not that i'm putting it back in. I found a brand new one from ecstuning for 315. I order from them a lot. So it's probrably going in my next order while i continue to operate.

I gotta do my valve cover's and cam tensioners. Getting a sweat from them and the valve covers are dripping on the exhaust mani. So many things to do
