With regards to CPO, yes that won't transfer over, but all you have to do is go down to the US to have that part honored. Also, if you have a US CPO warranty you get an additional 2 yrs or 160,000 km's instead of Canada's 2 yrs 120,000 km's, so you get more coverage from the US just the small nuisance to take the car back to the US depending on how far you are from the closest US dealer. May not be an issue for someone who doesn't drive much, but I know I drive between 30k and 50k a year so the added 40k's of coverage is worth something too.
In theory it sounds easy but in real life, you might have to go once for inspection, the second time then to go when the part is there if they dont have it in stock, also the shop might be busy and the car might be required to stay there several days and I doubt that an american dealer will give you a service loaner to go across the border.
I dont think this would work in real life unless someone really hates Canada and it will pay extra just to take his business elsewhere.
My 2 cents.

After seeing what some friends went through with their US into Canada vehicle and the supposedly good in Canada Warranty ... the savings would need to be significant to make it justifiable. And we live 25 mins from the border. Otherwise, with a savings of less than $5,000 on a car like the RS4 I'd much rather have comfort and certainty. Plus, the pain in the **** factor of getting warranty work across the line starts to add up if you the value of your own time into account.
Now if I was saving $10,000 plus, then border here I come ...

I was looking at some RS4's now sellink at 39K for me that is a very big saving although it does have 10k miles on it which is still nothing considering it is half price. This is a very arguable topic and in my opinion it goes both ways. No side will ever win.

I agree with 1move. I personally am pro US for getting cars, had my '04 CPO'd M3 from the US and drove 6 hrs to the nearest BMW dealer the 2 times I had issues/maintenance over the year instead of trying to deal with the local dealership in Wpg. They were a@@holes to me way before i even imported my M3 so that had nothing to do with it.
