2007 RS4 Brakes - how long should they last??
From time to time, I'm hearing my brakes squeak. I bought the car used with about 15,000 kms on it and have put on another 2,000 kms since.
How long are the brakes supposed to last? I know it varies depending on use, and I expect mine to be on the lower end of the range as I drive mostly in the city and I've already done one track day with this car...and who knows how hard the original owner drove it.
Also, does anybody have any knowledge/experience with 3rd party after market brake pads and rotors? With my last car (Nissan 350Z), I ended up buying non-OEM pads and rotors when I had to replace them. In addition to saving a few $$, they lasted way longer than the OEM, and shed a lot less brake dust. And, I actually felt the stopping power and fade to be noticeably better with the non-Nissan brand. I'm hoping that this might be the case with the RS4 as well. It's drag having to wash the wheels every week cuz of the dust.

There are definitely aftermarket pads available but I'm not familiar with what's available for the RS4. You might want to do a search on B6/B7 S4/RS4 - The Audizine Forums
Pad life will vary greatly depending on the driver. That said, a high performance heavy *** car will definitely eat pads more quickly ... pay to play as they say ...
