JHM PIGGIES FOR B6/7 S4 MT6 - $225 + your stockers
I have a set of JHM piggie pipes for sale. These were my downpipes and JHM 'piggied' them in Febraury 2010. I have since changed downpipes, and have these in my basement taking up space.
If you want JHM piggie pipes, you have a few options
1. do an exchange with JHM - you pull your downpipes and send them to JHM, then they send them back to you piggied - $400+shipping there+shipping back = about $600
2. do an exchange + core fee with JHM - they send you a piggied set, and you swap yours out and send yours back to them so your have no downtime. They charge a core fee, but refund it once they receive your stock downpipes - $400+300-300+shipping = about $600
3. take your car to an exhaust shop and get them to do the job for you. Most will quote 4-6 hrs of labour, so the cost is pretty similar to what JHM charges. Reality is most exhaust shops refuse to do this. Not sure why...I guess it's not exactly healthy!
4. DIY - tough to pull your downpipes, then have to deal with the toxic de-catting of the pre-cat section, but do-able.
I chose option 2 in February 2010. They are like the ones pictured below. These piggies were awesome, and helped propel my car to a 13.2 @ 107 mph quarter mile runvs stock at 13.8 @ 102. Jason at JHM went 13.03 with piggies. Cabracco85 went 12.89. As you can see, they are a great mod that allows serious performance gains vs. stock to be had. It's truly a fantastic modification that frees up horsepower while letting you still pass emissions. The B6/7 S4 downpies each have 2 catalytic converter sections. The first ones are 'pre-cats' and are right up by the engine. These are awful for performance and fuel efficiency, and are only there for cold start emissions. After the first 2 minutes your car is started, they're just along for the ride, choking your exhaust.
Mike from VAST in Detroit, nicknamed 'piggie' invented this mod for the B5. Works great for the B6/7 as well. Estimates are it frees up about 15-20whp. It makes the car sound slightly meaner, but nothing major. All around probably the best mod for the money in the B6/7 S4 world.
NOTE - they already have the o2 sensor location/spacers moved/installed. Just plug in and go.
Asking $295 + your stock B6/7 MT6 downpipes. If you would like to do an exchange like JHM does, I'll take $295+300, you take these to your exhaust shop (or your garage), do the swap, then bring your stockers back to me and I'll give you back the $300. Hopefully the local golden horseshoe audi club guys can attest to my character/availability for anyone concerned about the exchange refund.
