Default 96 A4 with problems - keep or chuck it?

I'm currently unemployed and have had some time to take a look at my neglected A4 that has recently given me nothing but problems. Besides giving me terrible mileage (12 mpg) she's not running too smoothly so I hooked up the VAG-COM and got a boatload of codes. I recently replaced the MAF with no change, I cannot find a fix for the ABS issue and my automatic transmission won't go into overdrive from a standstill.
The question is... Is it even worth me putting the time and money to fix it, and if so, where should I start? I enjoy DIY, but don't have much of a budget to take it to the shop.
Thanks a bunch!

Here is the VAG-COM readout:

I meant apart from the wheel being bent as a possible cause. I didn`t mean your wheel is bent...sorry for the lack of clarity. It`s actually impossible to tell whether or not your wheel is damaged from the pic.

I doubt the mounting and dismounting would have or could have bent them. And if they were damaged in any way prior to mounting the tires, the tech will usually notify you.

Even though it's a substantial ammount of weight, did they balance alright?

Default Re: Planning to buy 01 A4 1.8T Quattro

Hi.

I own a 2001 1.8T Q Standard. I am going to trade it in this week for an A6. The things I have had to deal with that are major are:

Oil sludge problem (oil pan pick-up screen gets clogged) 800$ clean-up
Ignition coils (recall)
central locking system (alarm going off when humid outside)
Replaced windshield (it was scratched)
Repalced entire AC system (compressor cooling clutch fan failed) 1800$ fix
Replaced all wheel bearings between 80000 and 100000 km. (did rear bearings a couple times)
Timing belt done at 160000km.

You should definitely ask about hte oil sludge issue on the 1.8T. This could kill your engine.

If you have more Qs, pm me...

Default Is this a good deal for rims/tires?

Hi guys, I've been looking for a set of 4 5 lug 112mm 16x7 rims for my 99 Audi A4 Quattro and this guy offered me a set of his speedline S4 rims that came off his 2000 S4 with a set of 205/55/R16 Yokohama avs sport summer tires with about 4 mm tread left for $850CDN. The thing is, he's been storing them in his garage for 2 years now and I'm concerned that in that time, the tires may be damaged or it could be leaking and not easily noticeable. Also, if it's been stored for 2 years (in Edmonton), would I need to have them rebalanced? Is $850 a good price? I've seen individual used Audi A4 stock wheels for sale for around $90 to $100 with a tire installed.

Default Is my turbo dead??

Hi guys, how can I tell if my turbo is still working? When I hit the gas harder, it no longer has that booster feel. It's a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro.

Default Abs/esp

2003 A4 3.0

ABS and ESP error lights come on after car warms up (5 - 10 mins). Checked codes and:

00290
ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Left (G46)
Open/Short circuit to Positive.

I've checked the sensor (clean, no filings or debris) and sensor output at the connector under the left rear seat/bolster. The sensor output seems fine (measured output pulses of same amplitude when system is working and when the fault occurs) . The brown and black wires from the sensor change to yellow and green/yellow stripe at the connector. The yellow wire seems to have a resistive pull up to the logic supply while the green/yellow striped wire is connected to chassis ground ( < 1 Ohm). When the fault occurs the green/yellow striped wire's resistance to chassis increases. Question: is there another sensor circuit that can cause the loss of ground to this sensor circuit?

Also, the speed output from this sensor (hand held VAGCOM) works fine from cold start and then drops to zero when fault occurs.

May be related: I also get a Air Conditioning code of 00604
Potentiometer Posistioning motor for air flow flap (G113)
Open/short circuit to positive.

Sounding like another apparent loss of chassis ground, any chance these two are related.
