Retrofit multifunction display need wiring diagram !
I am currently in the process of retrofitting a multifcuntion display in my A4. I need the wiring diagram for the RED connector in back of the cluster (for autocheck i think). i would just like to know where this red connection leads in the car...
I would like to know also if there is a control module for the multifunction display + autocheck somwhere in the car, or if eveything is in the cluster itself ?
It would be nice also if someone could tell me the wiring for the exterior temperature sensor
THANK YOU

Transmission Heater
I've got a 2004 A4, 3.0 V6, with the six speed manual and because it gets so damn cold in Saskatoon during the winter I am considering putting a pan type heater, stick-on type, on the transmission.
Has anyone done this?
Does anyone know if there is a flat area or curved area without fins on the bottom of this model transmission? It would be great if someone had a picture of the bottom of this model transmission they could send me or post.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Trunklid badge placement
I am looking for the diagram that shows the correct placement of the badges on the trunk. I was rear-ended and after the trunk was painted the badges were placed in the wrong spots. The quattro badge is too low and the rings are too high (the rest were previously removed and will not be going back on). I have seen a diagram with proper measurements online before but now that I am looking I am unable to find it.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Steering rack trouble
Hi all,
A couple of months ago my steering got squeaky so I checked in with my mechanic. They said the steering rack is leaking oil "inside" and should be replaced. As I'm not maintaining my car at Audi dealership but at a generic shop, they game me the part description so I can source it online at a fraction of the cost (as I always do). I had to contact Audi dealership however to confirm what type of rack I have based on VIN, and they replied ZF.
So I got online, found a company in Florida (Garo Steering, you can look them up on Ebay) that specializes in remanufactured racks, and was able to get it for $325, $75 credit on returned core and free shipping both ways. Total $250, much less than $900 + tax generic shop sells it for.
So far so good - I took the car in, they ripped it apart, and found that the part I have doesn't fit. The way they explained it is that the "angle at which it connects" to the steering wheel is not correct. Then they had to put everything back together costing me $450 in labor and not getting me anywhere.
I then contacted Garo and they bent backwards to provide me with pictures of two types of racks, I confirmed everything with mechanics, and we were good to go with the other rack. Arrived, took the car in, wrong type. This time around mechanics compared the new rack with the first one side by side and concluded it's the same problem, the angle thing. At least they didn't have to take the car apart again, so this time there was no labor damage.
So I'm at a loss - the first rack (top in the pictures) is supposedly ZF, the second (bottom in the pictures) is Koyo. From some pictures I found on the internet it seems like the one I'm chasing is slightly different from both I have:
cgi.ebay.de/Lenkgetriebe-Servolenkung-AUDI-A4-(8EC)-S13772_W0QQitemZ160387200994QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ2 0091215?IMSfp=TL091215161004r14195
The part number according to Audi dealership is 8E1422054A, and is listed in the link above. If you take a look at the picture in auction, you'll see the connector right in the middle of the rack appears to be at an angle, rather than at 90 degrees as in my pictures.
I don't know if Audi guys played a trick on me to screw me for not fixing my car there or what, it doesn't make sense. My car is A4 1.8T Quattro, Nov 2002, VIN WAULC68E43A179xxx, if someone can decipher that, apparently you can see what steering rack type should be in the car based on that.
My question is if anyone can identify racks from the pictures and confirm if they are Koyo or ZF, any other comments welcome.
Thanks

Re: Audi Mechanic: GTA????
Bero Motors on Kipling, North of the Queensway. I've taken my '01 Passat there and been happy with the service. They know what they're doing and the prices are reasonable. I also have an A4 which I'll take there when the warranty's up.

Does anyone who has a USA imported A4 have this issue?
My interior door UNLOCK buttons don't work. I can hear it unlocking the trunk but that's it. The key fob always unlocks all doors successfully. The LOCK buttons work fine (including the interior ones).
VAG COM results:
It seems several Canadians on the Audizine forum have the same issue I do.

Vag-com for Audi A4 - B7
Hi All.
Anybody know where I can purchase one of these cables for my unit? I want a place where you guys have tested it yourself. I don't trust all those cables on ebay and the ROSS TECH site is way too expensive.
I'm located in Montreal.
Thanks.
