Default Re: RNS-E in Toronto

I think the install is not a problem, there is a company on Warden and Eglinton, I can't remember the name, but google them - they do a lot of Euro car installs, small shop, but nice guys.

The price I saw was over $1000 for the RNS-E, and that was US, not locally, wil have to bring it in.

I purchased the Pioneer deck from BestBuy with Navi and BT, works well, and cost almost 1/2 the price of the RNS-E. Just a thought.

I would do the same; last time I checked RNS-E was about 1400USD. Ouch!

Here's the current price I've found, Audi A4 RNS-E. I'd love to get one of these too, but the price, WOW!

That's excatly why I went with the Pioneer. I wanted to get a Navi and Bluetooth - especially with the new hands fre laws in Toronto - when I saw the price of the RNS-E - don't thi k it was worth it - and many times these aftermarket products offers more features. The only thing is that you lose that definitve Audi deck. I got my installed with everyting, and 2 years warranty, for about $800, taxes in.

Default A couple questions.

I've got a couple questions regarding my B6 A4. If anyone can provide any assistance, I would greatly appreciate it I have done extensive research on both topics and have come up with next to nothing.

Okay, so first: My passenger side headlight area is missing the plastic shelf that the headlamp assembly sits on and mounts to (in the side and back.) I can't find the part's actual name or a part number, and auto recyclers tell me they don't have it. What's my best bet for finding this part, short of the dealer?

Second: My alarm goes off every time I initially lock the doors, but after the lock-unlock-lock (or vice versa) sequence it usually shuts off. Additionally, the immobilizer kills the car every so often when I attempt to start it. When "SAFE" comes up, I take the key out, wait a second, and then reinsert it or flip it and reinsert it, which usually fixes the problem.

Anyway, someone on this site has a similar problem and the convenience control module was brought up as a likely culprit. This module, from what I can tell from the Bentley manual, controls all alarm functions. Would it be safe to assume that this is the faulty part? I don't want to spend $400+ on replacing it, only to find that I was mistaken.

Thanks again!

If you are looking for a great place to get your audi serviced, take it to harbourview vw in nanaimo, they are not an audi warranty depot, but can service and repair your audi. The techs are the best, and the front end staff are awsome and helfull in all ways. Many people make the trip from victoria due to issues with speedway for there audi or vw service....

what did they do?
What can you expect though they do run a monopoly on vancouver island for porsche and Audi its not like you can go down the street to another one like you can in vancouver. Keep this in mind though They are a LOT better than BMW. BMW tries to screw you out of warranty every second they can especially if you imported one from the USA. Victoria BMW tried to tell me that the radiator from a 2008 325 which was bought in oregeon was an after market part and they wouldnt replace it when it blew up. When i pointed out that all the plastic on the side of the radiator was stamped with the symbol they told me that anyone could have popped them off the original radiator and stuck them on the after market one.

I just refuse to take my car to anyone unless i need an alignment... iv had fewer dents put in my rims / broken centre caps because of it.

Speedway is sometimes better for parts iv found than even lordco, key two, JB or Napa. The only thing ill go to the dealer is for is for example stretch bolts or pinch bolts for my control arms.

My brother took his car to them to get a trans flush and filter change stressing on getting the filter change... which they said they would do... and when he got it back they had just flushed it not changed the filter and dumped transmission fluid all over the engine bay so it smelled for the next 2 weeks.

BTW if you need an alignment in victoria go to speedy... they just bought a brand spanking new machine and are really reasonable $ wise.. under 100 bucks

Question Engine swap question

I have a 1996 A4 Quattro with a 2.8 12v engine with an automatic transmission. My cam broke so rather than mess with this engine I bought a used 2.8 30v engine which also had an automatic transmission. My question is, will this be a straight swap or will there be any complications? Will I have to do anything with the ECU or will it run this engine? Any comments would be helpful.

Default Improving the B7 APR Stage 3 kit to 450 hp

i've been a quiet member of audi forums for some time, but am one of the few to be venturing into new territory with the APR Stage 3.. i've asked APR (actually, VAG Motorsports in Montreal, Quebec has asked on my behalf) to build a new ECU file for a 'crazy tune' specific to the upgrades i'm doing. I just finished installing the Stage 3 for the B7, which includes everything but the FMIC and clutch upgrade. Both are on order, although I'm going with the AWE since APR hasn't been able to put one out in the short term. I'm sure it will be the bomb, but i'm impatient I've got connecting rods on order; which should be installed in the next 10 days. FMIC within 3 weeks as AWE is on backorder. Clutch also in the next month. I can't say i was dissapointed with the Stage 3, but i felt there was more potential. Lets face it, our cars are heavy and the quattro steals power. The only other way to get more performance was to reduce weight (which i won't do, aside from a CF hood - i like the comfort and quietness of the set up now), or to add more power.. i chose option 2. I'm expecting 390 hp to the wheels by the time i'm done with installing the FMIC, connecting rods and upping boost.. perhaps the tune will even increase the timing from the 6 degrees now.. most other kits produce more, but i know our connecting rods are a weak part..

if anybody else has done this or more to a B7 (with the Stage 3 kit from APR or anybody else), I'd like to hear from you on your advice or things you learnt along the way. I'm considering changing the transmission to a 6 speed from a 1.8T; it has shorter gearing and i find the stage 3 to do very little under 4K rpm.. blah.. that's useful power around town..

happy tuning.
