Opinions on the new A4
What does everyone think of the 09 A4? The lease on my wife's 07 comes up in May and we've been looking around. I drove the new A4, didn't like the automatic one bit,
was kind of disappointed with the styling but could live with it. When my wife saw it, she said it looked like a Buick! I'm not sure why they made it so damn big, I think Audi missed the mark on this one. Sounds like it'll be an A3 this time around. Light those fires!

Re: Opinions on the new A4
I dunno but the more and more I see of it in person the more I dislike the styling.
The front looks good, so does the side view but the back looks so out of balance to me, almost like they were trying to make it look like an A5 but someone messed up.
Personally I think I like the B5 and B6 A4 look the most.

Re: Opinions on the new A4
In my opinion it was a great idea to make the car larger. Audi will bring in new customers that want a sporty vehicle with usable dimensions, but don't want a boring A6 (excluding RS6). My wife and I had tried to fit in previous A4 models and they just seemed a little tight in every direction. The '09 with its larger interior space feels more roomy in the front and still has reasonable rear seat room for my young son.
We ordered an Avant.
As for styling (with respect to the Avant), they got it just about right. The front has a short overhang with nicely curved flares around the front spoiler and the sides have great cut lines that continue into the sweeping rear. The proportions and stance really make it a head turner.
The Avant is only available in one combination, 2.0T w/ auto. The 2.0T for the '09 has been tuned wonderfully for the type of driving most people do. A bunch of useable torque and decent horsepower while keeping fuel consumption the best in the segment. The auto box is smooth and responsive and the paddle shifters are a fun touch. I can't comment on the 3.0L or manual.
Interior amenities and technology are top notch (as with any Audi) while the B&O system is one of the best I've heard in a car at any price point.
For my family and I this car checked all the boxes:
- can be a fun spirited ride while getting good gas mileage
- fits my 6'3" frame and still has backseat room
- has all the newest technology and a great stereo.
- AWD system is extra peace of mind in the winter
- a sporty looking vehicle with the versatility of a wagon
- prestigious brand
...and althought this will probably change since its such a great package
- there are hardly any others on the road (Avants)

looking at my first audi need help
hello experts..
I am in a bind. I have always leased my car (saturn) and now came across a gorgeous audi 2006 quattro with 70,000 km already clocked. Since my saturn's lease is up Feb 1st, its time to look at other cars. the one I came across (dreamy car) is a pre-owned from a local audi dealership. In the spirit of comparison shopping, I went to another audi dealership to take a look at their pre-owned collection and they don't have anything that comes close. However the gentleman was telling me that its better to lease a new audi instead of a pre-owned. Okay so here is the deal: the pre-owned lease program ends december 31st. However new cars can still be leased. the new audi guy is crunching numbers to see if I can find a new one within my budget. Should I wait? Realistically what is the going rate to lease a new audi? (no money down)? something equal to a quattro 2006 a4?

Headlights
Today my bulb indicator came on in the a4. While I was checking the lights the two inside headlights on both sides don't come on unless high beams are on. Is this normal I have never noticed it before?

LED Number Plate for B6, electrical HELP!
Hi Guys,
I was at my local VW/Audi shop and picked up a set of 14.5V 39mm fuse-style LEDs by 42 DraftDesigns for $8.
After installing them in my 2002 B6 1.8T (which was in the end a very agonizing task getting the screws out), both sides light up, look great!
...but problem, turn on ignition and find out there is a Number Plate Bulb out error on the dash.
The message just flashes (no beep) for about half second then it is gone (even after pressing 'check' button). My question is there any way to over-ride the message without adding some sort of inline resistor?
I guess I could just get used to having the bulb out message flash upon ignition (no annoying beep at least ) , unless there is a easy solution...
Thanks,
Brian
