Default neutral safety switch

Hi all, I'm having trouble starting my 2001 A4 1.8t auto. When i turn the key to the start position all the lights come on but the starter doesn't turn. If i hold the key in the start position and jiggle the shifter it will start somtimes. I think that it's the neutral safety switch and was wondering if anyone has ever changed one and how much of a job it is? I'm not sure of the exact location of the switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Fans running constantly...

Hi,

Can anyone shed any light on this?

The fans on my 2003 S4 (B6) run constantly as soon as the ignition is switched on (i.e. engine not yet started) and also run for approx 10-15 minutes after the engine is switched off.

The car is not overheating whilst I am driving it and all air-con functions are working OK.

VAG.COM returns the following fault:

"18080 - Coolant Fan Control 1: Open or Short to Ground
P1672 - 004 - No Signal/Communication"

Is this the J293/Fan Control Unit I need to replace - or should I investigate the other connections & relays? and if so - how do I go about that!

All help / advice appreciated!

Default Audi 2.0t red vs audi 2.0t black

If you had to choose which one would it be?

2007 AUDI A4 2.0T RED 2.0T

or this 2008 AUDI A4 2.0T

I am trying to help my brother in law decide which car he should buy from youcarz

I am telling him to go with the newer one, as i assume there would be less demons in the engine... any suggestions?

Default Re: Audi 2.0t red vs audi 2.0t black

Depends

The Red has the upgraded wheels, a sport package, better shift ****, upgraded exhaust as it looks like in the photos. But then it has 40k on it. The back left looks like it has been in an accident as the exhaust is offset but could be the photo? It also does not have memory seats, but it is an Sline which has a sportier body style, lowered suspension.etc.....

The Dolphin Gray
has lower mileage newer car, has memory seats, no upgraded suspension, no upgraded wheels. But you get an extra 20 000km's on the warranty and extra year on warranty as well. To upgrade the wheels your son will probably do it anyways. The color is way easier to keep clean then red, and he wont get picked out by cops as easily if he does something like speed.........

I chose the Dolphin gray IMO!

Talking Wheel size???

I just purchased my first Audi. It is a 2002 A4 1.8T Quattro. I am looking to put new Wheels and Tires to upgrade the stock 16's. I was wondering if someone could tell me the max wheel and tire combo that can be put on the "stock suspension" car with out fitment issues. I want to stay with no lower profile than 40 series. I don't want to suffer ride quality for paper thin low profile tires. I think 18 x 8.5 with 245/40's would be a good upgrade, but I wanted to check with other owners. Oh yea offset? The wheels I am looking at are +35. Thanks for any help.
