New A4 1.9TDi (2005) Variable service ????
Hi
I have been driving A4's (1.9TDi) for quite a while now and the last few
have been having their service around 19-20K
I have not changed my driving pattern (mainly motorways) and my latest one
has also shown the service interval
to be due at 11k.
I was in the Audi Garage and they were obviously had someone on the phone
with a similar query to mine, but they
say there is nothing they can do.
Anyone else seen or heard about this "Problem" ?

Maybe when it was in last service Audi didn't use the long life oil? or
perhaps they didn't set it on variable service, and just kept it on
standard.
Does it instantly show 11k when you drive it after having a service, or does
it work out 11k after say 5k miles driving, I know my Audi has gone nearly
30k miles without a interval change before.
Long Life services are based on driving habits and I think it knows the oil
type used, but the dealer when he resets the service indicator sets either
long or short servicing.

It is brand new and it worked out to be 11k after about 2k and never changed
( i.e milage + mileage till service = 11k)
Audi have said ALL settings are correct.

My car says 'service' at 20k even though the next scheduled service
isn't until 25k miles. It's irritating but I think in the US, when they
changed the interval from 10k - 20k - 30k - 40k etc. to 5k - 15k - 25k
etc., they didn't update the indicators in the cars. But I change my
oil every 5k anyways, so not a big deal.
