Aux input on Nav+ system
Just ordered an A6 equiped with a Nav+ system. The dealer recomended me to
buy a CD-changer (costs app 675 euros !!!) because the cd tray is occupied
by the nav cd-rom.
I was just wondering if there is an option to connect an external device,
such as a MP3 player, iPod etc etc via an Aux input (if there is any?)
Anyone in this newsgroup familiar with such a setup ?

Why not use a Phatbox?
I've also seen A8 owners wire their Ipods direct into the Changer
input and use a switch with relay on the dash to switch between
changer and Ipod.

You can purchase FM modulators that will feed sound from your external
device through the car's tuner. For best sound quality and least hassle, be
sure to get one that connects inline between the antenna and stereo unit,
and that uses a PLL transmitter (eliminates frequency drift).

Tnx for your reply Greg,
It is a big pitty that it seems to be almost impossible to find a Phatbox
here in the Netherlands.
Standard Audi cd changer costs 650 Euro, almost the same as a Phatbox.
If I could find one here for 650 or less, I would not hesitate to get one !!
I'm quite reluctant in chaning anything in the existing wiring, therfore an
Ipod or any other MP3 player which is not "plug and play" for the Nav+
system is not realy an option.

I got a thing called the Dension ice>Link for the iPod. It fit's into the
external CD changer connector on the Symphony head unit, and allows you to
control the iPod somewhat using the next track / previous track controls on
the head unit itself. I had to get a cradle too to hold the iPod. I don't
have the satnav thing though, so not sure if there'll be an issue there.
I guess you don't change any existing wiring, as it just plugs into that
external CD changer port, though of course you'll need to get that cable
installed around the unit.
I got mine from here..

...seems like it works with the Concert head unit also.
