A90 1987 quattro saloon windows steaming up
Help please,
A90 Quattro Sept 1987 Saloon
The windows keep steaming up even when the car is sitting idle for a
few days. In cold weather there is a lot of condensation on the inside
of windscreen.
When driving in wet weather the windows also steam up and takes
forever to clear. The side windows are usually permanantly steamed up.
Heater and blower ok and air blowing to and through the relevant
vents. Heated rear window working but appears slow to demist.
The only solution so far is driving with windows open for a time.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

the vent system -- not likely unless you can also smell anti-freeze inside
the car when it steams up.
2. You have a hole or some other leak that is letting water into the car and
soaking the carpets and/or underlay matting. This is the most probable.
3. It's winter and you are dragging a lot of snow into the car on your
boots/shoes. Same effect as #2.

If the system is anything like the 1984 - 1991 T44 series (5000s and 100 /200
series) the first place to suspect is a broken spring on the air recirculation
door. The spring holds the door open to allow outside air in by default but is
missing it will fog the windows badly.
On the T44s the recirc door is located on the firewall up behind the glove box.
While you are in there check to be sure that the vacuum line is on the doors servo.
