2003 a4 cabriolet Jack and wheel brace
Hi guys/gals
Trying to get my son out of the mire!! Where is the jack and wheelbrace
normally housed, he claims he hasn't got one! Flat tyre car going nowhere,
any sensible suggestions as to where to buy suitable new or second hand
ones.
Where are the jacking points on this car for a trolley jack??
Thanks
Martyn

Did he look in the compartment on the side of the trunk where you install
the CD changer as well? Both the jack and the lug wrench should be in a
plastic tool box there.

Martyn,
You'd think that the jack and the rest of the tools would be in the trunk
(errr, sorry, "boot") with the spare. I read somewhere that Audi was going
to be using a tire goo "patch" and inflator instead of a spare - which does
you little good if you suffer a massive blowout - in order to save space (no
tools nor spare tyre!). As the a4 cab needs some precious boot space for
the roof, could this be one of those cars?
As far as where are the jacking points for a shop jack, (at least on the
older cars) there's a rubber "bumper" pad installed on the underside at the
4 corners that marks where the jack can lift (they're further in than the
points for the OE jack). If not, then carefully select a point (ie -
subframe mounting point to body) that will take the load of jacking the car
up. Is this another bit of info that the owner's manual doesn't have? If
not, what DOES the manual have in it, besides precautions about drinking
antifreeze, closing the window while sticking your head out, etc. etc. It
sounds like it should be about the size of a comic book.
Cheers!
