Climate Control Software Bug in 2013/14 A-7s
My local Audi service center at the dealership has been looking at a climate control issue on my 2013 A-7. The airflow distribution setting does not work properly. The setting changes after the car is turned off and then restarted at some later time. And when the car is started, the air distribution setting displayed on the MMI display is different than the air distribution setting displayed on the climate control display. Once I re-adjust the air distribution setting to what I want, the MMI display and the climate control display will "sync up." The dealership service center let me know approx. 9 months ago that this is a known "software bug" in all 2013 and 2014 A-6 and A-7s (for models with the front seat ventilation feature). This issue has been logged with Audi engineers, and no fix currently exists; and no time table is know for when this will get fixed. I call the dealership about once a month to see if a fix has been created. I also was told by the Audi service center that the sales people do not tell customers of this problem/bug when selling the car. Any thoughts on a "workaround"/fix?

Ario - the issue is somewhat "arbitrary," and occurs about 85 to 90% of the time when I start up the car. At first, the dealer couldn't recreate the issue (not sure how many times they really tried), but after I logged the issue every time it happened over a three day period (with photos of the MMI and climate control displays), they decided to spend some extra time recreating my problem. They were able to easily recreate it, acknowledged it was a problem, and then talked to the corporate Audi engineers. The engineers told them it was a "logged software bug" with no estimate as to when they will address the fix. As I mentioned in my earlier post, they also mentioned that it is a problem in all 2013 A6 and A7s (for models with the front seat ventilation feature). Interested in what you find. Thanks.

John:
I tested this over 4 days. It's the strangest thing, I am able to reproduce about 60-70% of the time but "only" when my front ventilation is on. When off, it works normal.
Do you recommend I take the car in?

Ario - There is no fix to the problem, so taking your car into the dealer's service ctr won't help. I've been told by both the dealership and Audi of America corporate offices that no fix currently exist for the problem. And they will not tell me if they are trying to even work on a fix. Again, the problem exists for all 2013 and 2014 A6 and A7s (as described in my earlier post). Two key concerns: 1) It's been over a year since I was told about the fact that no fix exists, and 2) Audi continues to sell these autos and not tell customers that there is a problem.
