Default '13 A5 Hesitation/Acceleration Concern

My new A5 (11,000 km) has an intermittent (naturally) problem with acceleration from a stop.

It only occurred once or twice a month but It has occurred twice in the last week - the last time almost caused a collision as I attempted to enter an intersection but the car hesitated (felt like it was going to stall) only to jump forward at the last moment.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

...John

Have you noticed that it takes one or two more revolutions to start first thing in the morning?

No, it starts easily on the 1st try - even in the recent colder weather.
(Note you are from Kingston - I am in Brighton, 110 km west)!

Not saying you have the same problem but my problem began the same way. Then came the hard starting. First one more revolution, then two and so on until months later it wouldn't start for 15-20 revolutions. As well, when stationary at a stop light I sometimes noticed one or two misfires at idle but fine on acceleration. This took place over about a 10 month period. There was never a CEL. I had taken the car to the dealer several times but they could never replicate the problem. Then finally they kept the car for 5 days and on day 4 got the problem. The high pressure fuel pump was not holding pressure. It was allowing pressure to bleed off. The mechanic used his knowledge instead of the Audi diagnostic tool and suspecting a fuel problem measured the fuel pressure and found the problem. As I recall there was a period of a month or two from hesitation until I noticed the extra revolution on startup.

Thanks for this..will let my Audi dealer (Oshawa) know.
They did keep the car for 5 days but never detected a problem.
The hesitation continues; intermittent but a concern.
I presume it was the Audi Kingston mechanic who sorted this out for you.
Thanks!

Yes, an Audi Kingston mechanic who is, like me, a Honda/Acura guy. We both own Integras. He doesn't have much respect for VW/Audi. Not sure why he likes his job under those circumstances.
