AVOID Delmar Motors in London
Delmar motors in London Ontario.
I've been looking for an Audi A6. I was in contact with them for over a week, prior to the car even arriving. It came in on a Friday, and Saturday morning the sales guy called me (and sent me pics via e mail) and told me it was in and looked great. I am two hours away from there. I told him I'd be up Monday morning. He said there were people looking at it that day. I told him no problem just let me know if it sells.
He had my e mail and phone number because we had been in touch over the week or so prior.
Monday morning after driving there for two hours, he told me he sold it on Saturday!
Not the kind of company i want to do business with. Very disappointed!

I wouldn't avoid them based on that. You should have called before you left.
You figure car salesmen keep ledgers of whom they have to call to report "no longer available sorry" in the event of selling a car?

Re: AVOID Delmar Motors in London
when should i have called him? at 6:30 am before i left on Monday? We spoke about this car for a week before it came in. Multiple times. Our last conversation was "OK, call me if you sell it". he said OK!! I took that as an undertaking.
It sold (according to him) at 5:30 Saturday afternoon, should i have called him ever hour since we spoke at 10 am that morning to make sure it still was not sold?
Do i figure salespeople should keep ledgers of every car? no, but this one that we spoke about about daily for week prior to it coming in? YES. i actually do. He was well aware that i was 2 hours away and planning to drive up first thing Monday morning.
My guess is that you do not own a company. I actually do. Two companies in fact and i would not tolerate that from any of my sales people (or managers, read on)
And i spoke to the manager, and he didn't really seem to give a rats A$$ either.
Do i care that i missed out on a car? no. Am i upset that in todays economy that there are dealers (sales people and managers) who don't give a crap. yes. Maybe the dealer principle would care a little more. I think a call into them might be appropriate.
I ended up buying a newer A6 from another dealership further up the highway. And the manager there, who i dealt with directly could not do enough for me. It came in Tuesday of this week and he knew i was driving up to see it. His comment was "don't worry this one has your name on it".
I have not completed the transaction, but when i do, I'll be happy to give their name out as well.
Sorry to vent, but this treatment is not acceptable. And any business owner I know would agree. Maybe a call to his house at 6 am before i left would have been appropriate.
