Winter Tires and Rims - 09 A4 Sport
Just got a 2009 A4 Sport with 245/40 R 18 summer tires. With winter approaching, I'm looking for winters. Debating dropping down to either 17's or 16's. Any advice?
225/50 R 17
225/55 R 16
Are these correct tires sizes for my model?
I believe the bolt pattern is 5-112. Do I need to be concerned with the offset?
Finally thinking of Dunlop Wintersport 3D, unless anyone has other suggestions!
Thanks......

I'm not sure how small you can go but keep one thing in mind. If you plan on doing a big brake kit in the future you will likely run into issues if you drop to 16's. I purchased 17's in anticipation of this.
I would suggest Gislaved Nordfrost 5's. Used them last year and they were amazing.

I will be mounting Michelin X-Ice, 225/50-17 on RS4 replicas (TPMS installed) on my '09 A4 Avant with 18" Sport pkg.
I decided against the 16" based on what I read about brake clearance.

Thanks for the advice.
Where is a good spot to find Replica Audi rims in the GTA?
With the redesign of the A4 for 2009, will the older Replica rims still fit?

My dealership also recommended either one of those tire sizes but in the Pirelli sottozero. My concern is that several posters warn of potential break problems if I go with the R16. (not enough clearance for the calipers) Does anyone have a personal experience with this or know of a technical document from Audi or other recognized source?
Good review from the APA in 2008 for the Pirelli sottozero, except a little pricy.

Re: Winter Tires and Rims - 09 A4 Sport
Honestly though - I never got the points of replica rims.
replica rims are generally not made as well - which could mean that if you hit a big bump (aka on the 401 doing 120km/hr), you crack the rims.
Just get them refinished for $125/rim in the summer, rather than putting your safety at risk.
OR - if you're full of $$, buy OEM rims at $800/rim lol...

Originals can cost $500 or more per wheel while replicas are less than $200.
An example:
Replica Audi RS4 B7 Wheels | TireTrends : Save on Replica Audi RS4 B7 wheels!
Cdn$185 each.

Re: Winter Tires and Rims - 09 A4 Sport
I bought replicas and nokian hakk Rs , had them installed and had nothing but problems- couldn"t balance them etc. I went back to Audi and bought Audi wheels with 225 50 17 Pirelli Sorrozero to replace my summer 245 40 18 and couldn<t be happier. The stress of trying replicas and not using my local Audi dealer wasn"t worth saving 800 bucks. 2009 A$ 2.0T with Sport Package

Re: Winter Tires and Rims - 09 A4 Sport
Dealership wants 1,995 + taxes installed for their winter wheels (17" rim) and tires (Pirelli Winter Sottozero 210 tires)
What type of prices have you folks got? I'm sure I could get them installed significantly cheaper from a local tire shop, but wondering what I can bargain with Audi first.
