Trading in my 09 A4 for this BMW 335 CPO
Town and Country BMW bought from auction and are selling it to me as a CPO for $33.5K..fully loaded and only 35,000 kms..
CarProof Claims Report #3201567 for Vehicle VIN
The renewal on the carproof shows that its from Gatineau, Quebec, but I have documentation the car was bought from Otto's BMW in Ottawa (about 25 minutes across the border in Ontario. Emission test is in Ottawa though, what's going on here?
I've read a lot of suspicious things about Quebec cars and carproof not being able to detect accidents.
Can someone help me interpret this and does this seem suspicious to you guys? They are selling it as CPO so it has to pass certification and to the best of their knowledge has no accidents.

Ottos is located in Ottawa which is across the river from Gatineau. Many of the dealers in both provinces sell to residents in both provinces. Its hard to hide accident info unless paying cash and based on the car being CPO'd, Id be more concerned about it being a smokers car ... Good luck !

fyi: Carproof, Carfax..etc would never show if the car was involved in any accident IF the owner never declared it. That's why it is important to have it checked mechanical/body to detect anything fishy. The car being CPO would help indeed
Ask if you have maintenance records as well
Qc/On I would not really worry about that that much

Carproof/Carfax are always nice to have:
BUT I do not trust anyone, regardless from whom you purchase it.
Always have it inspected by someone you trust.
For paint they can use a hand held unit which detects the microns on the paint, instantly letting you know if any part was repainted.
Look under hood/doors...etc at potential spray fumes/seams/welds as another potential repair indication....etc
Having all service records is crucial as many ''end of lease'' cars are often neglected and the bare minimum is done, I would be careless and beat it if I leased anyways...I would do the bare minimum
Sometimes even CPO ones have issues regarless if the dealer was aware and did not inform the potential customer or they were not even aware
Better be safe than sorry
Good luck it is a great car regarless with an amzing twin turbo coming very close to the previous generation M3 but more forgiving for a daily drive!

personally i bought a car from an auction that was originally a Quebec car and it turned out to be the biggest pile of crap. They use a lot of salt in that province and the roads are way worse than Toronto. I had to replace bushings, bearings...etc.
Mind you i may be comparing apples to oranges as the quality of a BMW suspension is far superior from a Grand Cherokee. Plus since you are getting the warranty i wouldnt be too worried if I was you.
I also have access to the auctions and it seems that the price is a bit too steep considering what you can pick one up at the auction. Here are some examples:
2008 335xi coupe 80K for 29.
2007 335i coupe 70K for 24
I know that they have more km's, but it depends if 40K is worth 10,000 bucks to you. Anyway just my opnion. good luck BMW's are great cars too.

Without going off topic here I feel I have to mention this:
I live in Montreal so yes we do use a ton of salt & abrasives and our roads are indeed horrible and that is an understatement. As soon as you are crossing into Ontario and see the sign you will feel the difference of the pavement instantly!
Purchasing from any auction is a big no no as you cannot inspect the car on site, who knows the history, records, owner...etc for what saving a few thousands and taking a HUGE risk
OP at least is dealing with a CPO dealer...with an extended 2 years warranty. Do check though what it covers exactly and if it is basically an extension of the 4 years warranty.

Actually you are wrong about the auction. Every car is inspected and full car proof is provided. These are dealer auctions and not the cheesy public ones. They will go through each car. If they sell it through a "green light" there is no issues with the car guaranteed. Full description of issues is provided if any are found. I agree that CPO would be a greater piece of mind, but for 10K i would buy something with 40,000kms more and save my money. That is still low milage for the car...just my opinion i know that everyone thinks differently and i respect that.
Good luck to you bud, and I am sure whatever you decide you will love the car.
