Angry Remove Dash Trim Warning!!!!!!

Just a warning for people who want to warp carbon fiber on Dash Trim. I have warped my dash trim with carbon fiber, and all the removals were DIY. However, when everything was done. I installed the dash trim back. In the meantime, the AIR BAGS and PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION lights were suddenly turned on and never off!!!!
I had no idea how to fix it. Then I took my car to Audi dealer. They charged me $145 for the labor!!!!! My car is still under warranty. However, they were saying, the causation was done by outside of factory(remove dash trim), so it's not covered buy warranty......

Btw, my car is Audi A4 B8!!!!

Anybody know if the warning lights could have been simply reset using VAGCOM thingie (which is probably what the dealer did)?

I just wraped my door inserts and was thinking about the dash insert, but maybe I'll hold off...

You should be able to unplug it just don't turn the ignition on.

That sounds like over 1 hour labour charge for what I assume would be a simple clearing of the error code. Perhaps they did additional diagnostic tests to ensure there wasn't another issue? I would ask for an explanation from the service manager about what they actually did. If they can't give you a reasonable reason for that charge I would take my business to another dealer. I see you're in Vancouver. Where did you have this done?

This thread is over 5 months old lol but just in case someone does read this when doing a swap...

The OP had to have started his car or put the key in the ignition with the center console apart.

I did the trim swap in my B8 S4 and read a lot on it before. One of the most important things I read was to Not start the car with the center console or the climate control unit out or this exact thing would happen...one guy got 15 different error codes lol.

With that said though there was no reason to go to the dealership and pay $145 even if you do start the car and get a slew of HVAC errors because its unplugged, they will clear after a certain number of restarts once everything is plugged back in.

You could have easily cleared them with a Vag cable yourself or just ran through a few cycles and let them clear themselves in a few days.
