Default Possible To Update Nav Maps on MMI via USB?

I've done a lot of reading on this topic and get different stories on this. Can I download the latest maps and install it on my 2010 Audi A4? I have the MMI with USB slots and a CD as well in the system (not sure if its DVD or not).

Also, how do I go about finding out what the latest version of the MMI Firmware is? Took my car in today for regular service and asked them to update the firmware as I've noticed some subtle differences between my wife's 2012 Q5 and 2010 Audi A4 in terms of voice prompts etc.

Any suggestions/feedback?

Thanks

I think map upgrades should be free. Lexus does it...why not Audi! Ridulous to pay 300$ to upg the maps. My TomTom has unlimited maps and i purchased it for 300$ Let me know if you can find the maps.

I read on the Internet about Audi Map Update Service via MyAudi (URL below). I have registered and see the Update Service being described but I cannot locate the option to actually download. Not sure if it is country / model / year specific so maybe others will have more luck? Mine is 2013 A4.

Options mentioned on the Internet are:
- AudiConnect (don't believe this is available in Canada)
- PC download onto SD card, then update MMI directly

Please share your experience once you have a chance to try out. Thanks.
