Failed Turbo
My 2010 Audi A4 with about 55,000 km just had the engine light come on and I have been advised by Audi that the problem is a failed turbo unit. Luckily it is covered by the extended warranty but I wanted to ask if this is a know problem on this vehicle ? How long should these things last ?
I have to say as much as I love the car, I am seriously concerned about the ability of this car to last another 5 years given the ongoing oil issue and now this. We have had the car in twice for a fix on the oil burning issue....jury is still out on whether the fix worked this time. btw, Audi claims the turbo issue has nothing to do with the oil issue or fixes applied.
I would be interested in the thoughts of the forum members. thanks.

Re: Failed Turbo
Update: Talked to Audi today and they say its not the turbo unit that failed but the air regulator valve, although it really does not matter because they need to replace the entire unit anyway. Apparently Audi was aware of the design flaw in this part and have changed the design in the new turbo units....I am being told I will get a new modified unit. Audi has also extended the warranty to Sept 2017 for my car. The repair if I had to pay for it would be $4000.
So do you think the new unit really is redesigned and will last longer? I would like to get another 5 years and 60 to 80K out of this car.
