B8 Oil Consumption Issue

B8 Oil Consumption Issue
Just picked up my 09 CPO a month ago. Very happy with the car however I am seeking some input on the oil consumption issue. The car had 75K at delivery...now up to 78. The MMI oil level indicator is now showing about 1/4 red bar above the min level. If my research is correct this would seem to indicate that I've consumed roughly 3/4 of a litre after 3000 kms of driving? Just for interest I did not have to top up my previous B7 between the 15000km oil changes however the dip stick would be at the add level by the time it took it in for the oil change. I'm curious what the volume of oil is between the add and full mark on the old B7 dipstick? This would help me compare the consumption rates between the two. I'm not overly concerned as I know these engines are known for supporting the oil industry however I do want to keep an eye on this. Appreciate any input/comments concerning my numbers. Thanks

Re: B8 Oil Consumption Issue
Many threads around this subject. it seems to be an issue that Audi is rather reluctant to deal with in an open fashion. Best thing is to raise your concern with the dealer. They will say the Audi threhold spec for excessive oil consumption is more than 1 Litre / 1000km - which I consider excessive. They may offer to do an oil consumption test with you, and if the threshold is exceeded, then some form of engine rebuild may occur - a bad batch of piston rings was one of their positions at some stage.
I am using about a litre every 2500km. I now just make a point of checking my oil level on a regular basis and especially before any longish trip with highway driving. There are no symptoms of oil leaks or blue smoke out the exhaust.
Ref the volume between Max & Min Oil marks on the B7 2.0T dipstick, I think it is about .75 L but I don't know exactly - it certainly isn't 1 L as I have always had oil left when starting with a full bottle.

Re: B8 Oil Consumption Issue
After a little more digging today I've learned I'm within Audi specs for consumption...and it sounds like we're not the only German car lovers living with this issue. MB and BMW owners are posting the very same issues. The good news is my dealer, Mark Motors, will happily provide complimentary top ups.
