2010 A4 Engine Cooling Question?
I just bought a 2010 Audi A4 Quattro Premium 2 days ago and it is my first Audi! I have noticed that it seems to take longer than normal for my engine to cool all the way down; for example I went to a movie to night for aproximately 1 hr 45 mins and when I came out I popped the hood to feel the engine and it was still fairly hot, I could touch the bulk of the engine with out getting burnt but it was still quite warm. Is this typical? How long does it take for the engine to cool all the way down?

I don't know how long but I think its a design feature to keep the engine from cooling too fast, to avoid cost starts after only a few minutes.
I remember they told a reviewer, many years ago, saying it was designed to keep the heat to avoid cold starts. Fuel economy, wear reduction. That keeping it totally insulated was studied but too costly and complicated. This was alongside saying how the undertray keeps it cool while moving and reduces fuel use.
