Default 2009 Audi A4 / 6-Speed Manual Transmission

Hi All,

I'm new to the forums, and new to the world of Audis.

I am very interested in getting the new 2009 Audi A4, but after speaking with the salesperson, I left the dealership with more questions than answers.

My main question:
- Will the 6-speed manual transmission ever become available on the 2.0T Audi A4 for 2009? If so, what is the expected release date for this?

My other question:
- Is there a way to get the HID headlights w/ LEDs as an option on the 2009 Audi A4, WITHOUT getting the rest of the premium package? I would like to get the 100% base model, and JUST add the navigation and HID headlights to it. Can this be done?

I appreciate the help!

Hey [BlackDiamond],

Welcome to the forum! Nice potential choice of car. It's a beauty!

The manual transmission is due out in the spring of 2009.

There are always ways to get what you want for your car. If you are dead set against going with the premium package you will have to buy the HID headlamps and NAV as separate components. (NAV is only available as an option with the premium package.) You will have to buy them from an Audi dealer parts department or an online aftermarket/OEM parts dealer as they become available. They will likely be a little cheaper online, but you need to be a little more careful that you get exactly what you need. Next you need to decide how and where to get them installed.

Personally I would go with the premium package. You get the HID headlamps that you want, plus some other great features and the option to add NAV if you like.

Agreed. I just placed an order for a 2009 manual premium in Calgary. Told many different things including cars arriving anywhere from January to April 2009. Basically it sounds like they will be arriving near the end of the 1st quarter 2009.

Hey guys, me again.. just wondering, as I might be considering the 3.2 V6 powerplant. Same question, is the 6-speed manual transmission going to be available on the V6 models of the A4?

Unless Audi makes a last minute decision to cancel it, here's no reason the V6 shouldn't be available with a manual transmission. They have always sold enough of those cars to warrant it.

I drove the 2.0T again the other day. Man that's a smooth engine. It could just be that the car was new, but it didn't feel as rough as the 2007/2008 models I have driven.

The smoothness, fuel efficiency and tunable nature of that engine would have me sold.

I love the 2.0T, but the power of the V6 is making me lean towards it. I'm coming from a Mustang, so I dont want to be too depressed with the lack of power of the 4 cylinder when compared.

I read in the audi brochure and it just stated 6-speed manual on the 2.0T models, and not the 3.2 models. Anyone else with more insight?

Bummer. I saw that after too, but you beat me to it.

That being said, if you are set on a manual transmission Revo and GIAC already have software for that engine that will add approximately 50HP. I'm sure APR isn't far behind.

My 2008 TT had the 3.2 litre engine and was a lot of fun, but I am looking forward to going back to a turbocharged four cylinder engine.

50 HP on the 2.0? Damn, that's impressive. Can the engine handle it without any other physical upgrades?
