Default Trunk Release

When the trunk release button is pressed on the remote is the trunk suppose to pop up or do you still have to lift it? I've always wondered if it's suppose to pop up or if it just releases the latch but you still need to lift it.

Thanks.

The trunk lid is counterweighted so that it unlatches and lifts up slightly when the trunk release button is used and then you need to lift it fully open. It's a good design as if it popped right up immediately, on a really windy day the whole trunk lid could get damaged as the wind caught it.

When closing, those same springs help the trunk latch easily - I can use my index finger with gentle pressure to flick the lid downwards and it quickly latches itself shut.

Yes this trunk doesn't need to be slammed. It happily shuts when "dropped" from less than 6 inches from closed.
