New to this forum :D How should I mod my car?
Hey guys. I have seen this forum around a few times but I never felt the need to post or even read many of the threads here. Although in June, I got an Audi A4 2.0T 2006 with 40,000km on it. It looks brand new.
I haven't done any mods to it yet, besides painting the calipers. (don't know if that's considered a mod around here XD)
So my questions are: Since I want to do some mods to my car, I have come up with a list of possible ideas. Not many of them actually being performance mods.
(I already got new mags, just haven't put them on yet.)
1. Tinted Windows
2. HID kit
3. Some sort of body add on (spoiler, skirt, whole kit, etc..)
4. Exhaust System
5. Cold air intake (Don't think I actually want this, but I will see what you guys say)
Could you guys maybe put that list I provided in order of which mods should have priority of the others (and perhaps remove some that just seem stupid)? I don't really know how most of these mods would look on an Audi A4 2006 either, so much help is appreciated I would also encourage suggestions of other things to do to my car.

Re: New to this forum :D How should I mod my car?
For the love of God, please don't put non-projector HIDs in your car (if that's what you meant). Welcome to the forum otherwise!
The most efficacious mod to any vehicle is tires! No one ever talks about them, but they can yield a large performance gain in acceleration, braking, handling, stability, control, etc. Huge performance here for relatively little money, although the cost is recurring.
Here's the order in which I generally mod a vehicle (other than addressing specific vehicle weaknesses):
- Free weight-loss (spare, tools, rear seats if you don't need them, miscellany)
- Tires
- Brake pads/fluid
- Anti-sway bars
- Dampers/springs/coilovers
- Suspension/Steering components - bushings, bearings, control arms, etc.
- Lightweight wheels
- Turbo-back (shaved 30lbs with mine!)
- ECU remap
- Other bolt-ons - intercooler, manifolds, water/meth, etc.
- Larger turbo
- BBK
- Expensive weight-loss (carbon, lightweight parts, etc.)

Nothing - I'm all go and no show, baby!
I'm into the OEM+ look. The only thing done to my car is debadged, cleared headlights and side-markers, and wheel spacers. I often get people saying that they love my car even though they dislike TTs, but they can't actually say why they like mine in particular. That's why I like OEM+

If I were to go for one what type/brand would you guys recommend for every day driving? I don't want it to be uncomfortable when I am driving long distances, I just want it to sound cooler than the stock one. I'm basically a complete noob when it comes to exhausts so you might have to bear with me

Re: New to this forum :D How should I mod my car?
Everyone says cold-air intake does nothing on these cars, so i'd pass on that one. And pass on the HIDs since you have reflector housings. If you want HID's upgrade to projectors.
The first mod you need to do is lower your car. Your car didnt come with sport suspension. Lowering it is the most important thing to give your ride a proper look. You really need a proper stance to pull off a modded car.
100% it should be the first thing you do!! Get a nice set of shocks and springs. As a bonus it will improve your handling significantly.

Do I just buy new springs? and if so, where should do I buy these parts?

Re: New to this forum :D How should I mod my car?
You have a few options but you will need shocks and springs.
you can do coil-overs such as STaSIS StreetSport coilovers. They will allow you to raise and lower the height as you'd like which can be handy for winter, if you want a real low drop for the summer.
STaSIS / Koni Street Sport Coilover Kit for Audi B6 and B7 A4 Quattro
You can also get set of h&r springs and then a set of bilstein shocks.
Audi B7 A4 Quattro 2.0T > Suspension > Suspension Kits > ES#850 H&R Sport Spring & Bilstein Sport Shocks Combo - 29368BSC
Search around and go to website for stasis, H&R springs, bilstein, eibach.
Try audizine.com or audiworld.com, theres usually much more information on this sort of stuff. Just do a forum search on their sites.
As far as install goes there are plenty of do it yourself on the internet or you can get a shop to take care of it.
