Looking to buy New tires in the GTA not sure where to go?
So I just took my 2006 A4 into Mississauga for an early 70,000km maintenance and to get the brakes service. I knew I was going to need brakes and knew it was going to be pricey. The end bill was $1200 which is what I expected for front and back rotors and pads. Just hoping they last another 70,000km. Also found out that my tires are low on tread and they suggest I replace them. I will continue to drive until these things get more bald and just watch myself in wet weather.
So my main question is the best place to buy decent priced tires. I was also debating what to do about the rims. I kind of want to take the stock rims (17" I believe) and put winter tires on them and buy a set of summer rims/tread seperately. Anywhere in the GTA would be acceptable as I have time off during the week.
Would the 17" stocker rims be acceptable winter rims with winter tread. A lot of people seem to think that you need 16" rims for winter. Last October I looked into finding steel rims for winter use for this car and that turned out to be very hard. Plus finances prevented me from doing so, so I just stuck with stock rim and tire for winter (which was okay) I didn't crash so....
Reccomendations on both winter tire and summer tire/rim anyone?

I usually go on tirerack.com and find the best tire for my car then call up green and ross and have them order it for me. Their prices are good. Also firestone can get good deals.
Also I just returned my 2006 a4 and the tires need to be 3 1/3mm or above to go back no charge. So you may want to check that out yourself.

Thanks for all the info guys, I'll give all those a try. I'm leaning on the leaner side of the cash scale. I love my car but I'm not big into accessories.
