Importing A4 from US

Re: Importing A4 from US
I am bringing an 04 TT across in the next week and have all my bases covered except for the fact that an Audi dealership says that the front bumper will have to be replaced??
I thought a change of bumper mounts from US to Canadian parts did the trick?
Am I getting hosed? If so, I'll find another Audi dealership and make a complaint with Audi Canada.
Please advise ASAP.

A guy down my street brought a TT ALMS over last year - had to replace the bumper as well as far as my memory serves me
Might not be a bad idea to check with another stealership just to make sure

Re: Importing A4 from US
I have an '08 on order and negotiated with the US-based dealer at the time of purchase that they would activate the DRL's for me. I'm told by them that it's just a computer issue and very easily changed. If you're buying from a dealer, get this thrown in when you're negotiating with them, may as well.
I have read that US dealers have lately been refusing to sell new vehicles to canadians, is your '08 brand new? when did you order? what area is the dealer in? thanks

Re: Importing A4 from US
Private sale. Don't know yet about the bumpers - made contact with Audi the other day for recall clearance letter and the operator said it would be mentioned therein.
Cnd border guys says Crappy Tire may do the fed inspec without the RIV form so, I'll try that right away.

Re: Importing A4 from US
Hey all,
Alot of help so far, but I do have a few questions.
I am in Vancouver BC and plan to bring used private A4 into canada. I am just planning to drive it over since we are so close to the seattle area. What about temporary insurance and registration. I need insurance and registration to drive it from seattle into canada, and perhaps while it is waiting to become registered here after inspection.
Does the vehicle need to be registered somewhere while i drive it to canada?
Can i get temp US transportation insurance and registration?
Can i get temp BC transport insurance and registration?
Also what exact paper is needed when u get to the border. And what pepers do they need 72 hours in advance?
- title?
- form 1?
- form 2?
- recall clearance letter?
One last question.
- what about paying US taxes when u purchase then car? There mus be a way to get out of the double taxation.
thanks
