Considering purchase, need opinions :)
Hi! I'm considering purchasing an '06 A4 quattro, was an american car brought in to Fredericton VW, and now being sold privately. I'm new to the Audi/A4 world, currently own a passat, and wonder if anyone has any tips, suggestions, things to check, etc? Based on the seller's info the car has extended powertrain warranty until Nov. 2011 and full bumper to bumper until Nov 2009... along with the following features:
- Powder blue metallic painted exterior (only available to the US market) with light gray leather interior in flawless condition;
- No cost scheduled maintenance until November 2009;
- New body style in 2006;
- 6 speed automatic transmission, with additional Sport gear for performance driving, Tiptronic paddle shifting, Dynamic Shift Programming, Hill Detection;
- 4 cylinder 2.0L Turbo delivers all the performance you'll want and gives great gas mileage at the same time;
- Optional 17" Audi rims (including spare), and all-season Pirelli tires with less than 4,000 KMs on them;
- Dual-zone automatic climate control with 7 temperature sensors;
- 12-way adjustable power driver/passenger seats, with power 4-way lumbar adjustment & active head restraints;
- Heated front and rear seats;
- Heated outside mirrors;
- Power Sunroof;
- 60/40 split rear seats with ski/snowboard pass-through;
- Audi Symphony stereo system with steering wheel controls, 6-disc in-dash CD changer, speed-sensitive volume, 10 speakers including an integrated sub-woofer;
- Remote keyless entry, including trunk release, and panic features;
- Automatic headlights sensor setting;
- Automatic rain sensing windshield wiper setting;
- Anti-theft system;
- Rear view, and outside, mirrors automatically adjust for night-time driving;
- Front diver/passenger next generation airbags, side, and curtain airbags (6 in total);
- Concealed rear glass antenna;
- Electronic stability, Anti-slip, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, 4-wheel ABS, and Traction control are all fully integrated with the all-time four-wheel drive system;
- Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering;
- Programmable garage door opener;
- Power disc brakes on all 4 wheels provides excellent stopping capability;
- Multi-function computer display;
- Satellite radio, and hands-free cell phone capability (steering wheel controls);
- Fold-down front and rear arm rests;
- Storage trays under both driver and passenger front seats;
- Front/rear Audi floor mats with additional rubber floor mats;
- Detachable cargo net in trunk with 4 tie downs, and road-side emergency kit;
- Auxiliary power outlet in trunk;
- Outside ambient temperature display;
- Impact protection, including high strength steel/aluminum cross members, reinforced bumpers, rigid occupant cell, side intrusion beams;
- Crash sensor system, including central locking, engine and fuel pump shut-off;
- Front/Rear passenger safety seat belts with automatic locking reflector;
- Adjustable rear head restraints (3);
- Audi mud flaps;
- Third sun visor above rearview mirror;
- Dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors.
I'm curious about specific things, like the transferability of the warranty, expected estimated fuel economy from the 2.0T with quattro, etc. I've tried to do as much research on my own, but seems like the smartest thing to do would be to ask the experts that own them... Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Considering purchase, need opinions :)
Actually, found something way better than carfax... Carproof. More expensive but much more detail. Does both US and Canadian checkfor registrations, mileages, title changes, status changes etc along with any liens.
As for warranty, I called Audi directly (btw, most helpful customer service i've ever dealt with) and they said no problem transferring warranty, gave me the remaining info on the warranty with the VIN i provided, and then also advised there was an ECU update that if I took the vehicle to the dealer they would update for me. Then she left me voicemail at home with additional information.
I ended up taking the 2.5hr trek (one way) to test this out last weekend, it was the most amazing thing I've ever driven. I'm waiting for the seller to get back into town to see if I can acquire this little piece of heaven!!!
The fact that it's a color that isn't normally available in Canada is really nice too, helps it stand out a little.
I wonder... Has anyone ever tried getting an option upgrade on an older car? I'd love to get HID's in instead of the Halogen, but I haven't really been able to find anything conclusive on how to do that (I'm sure there's computer changes needed to recognize) I don't think I'd try to just put HID in the multi-reflector assemblies, I'd want the OE projectors. Block heater might be a good idea too...
