I purchased the $20 ebay cable and it works great. I can scan for codes, do logging, and basically recode anything on my car. For example I can now roll down my windows by remote.

thanks a lot for your reply, but from all of my research, i found out that the 20$ cable will NOT work with the 2006+ models, because they use a new platform (B7)

and the reason that it works with your 2004 audi is because yours is a (B6) platform.

so if i wanted mine to work, i would have to buy the cable direct from www(dot)ross-tech(dot)com, which will cost me over 350$. "HEX-USB+CAN Interface"

thanks a lot for your effort...

From my understanding you need a real HEX-CAN cable to perform logging and operations in some of the modules on a B7. However you can still do the window mod, remove seatbelt chime, euro headlight, 1 click unlock all doors.

My friend with a B7 (07) just coded his car with no issues at all.

The $20 cable should do everything you need, try it out its only $20

You can download the ross-tech software and it will work with the ebay cable

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Download old versions for obsolete interfaces

You can do the minor mods with the free version, or you can purchase a license and take full advantage of the program. If you don't want to pay for the license you might even be able to find a crack for it.

Here is a little walkthrough on setting up the software and doing some of the mods: The $20 eBay VAG-COM Cable Walkthrough *Revisited* - Audizine
