Default Change speedometer between KM and Miles

Is there a way to change the speedometer to report my speed in Miles?

My car only has KM on the speedo and I've got a couple long trips through the US coming up and would like to be able to change it so that my driving speed indicates in Miles.

Gone through the manual and saw nothing, was going to ask the dealer next time I was by but thought I'd toss it out here first.

Yep, you can do it through in-dash computer. It's in settings.

If you're talking about pressing the RESET button on the windshield wiper control arm while the car is in park and changing the UNITS, that doesn't work. All that does is change the odometer, tirpmeter and fuel economy units. Speedometer still reports speed accurate to KM/H

Wtf. I thought cars either had to have both on the speedo or have the ability to change between them if sold in North America. For **** sakes, my buddies Malibu has a button that he can change it while driving....

So basically I have to do it in my head and figure it out when I'm down there...

LOL, why not just follow the others around you and maintain same speed?

The digital speedo still reports km/h after you do this?
Strange, I thought the unit change procedure was supposed to change the digital speedometer readout too in the center of the cluster.

There is no digital speedo readout in my vehicle unless I'm missing something. If I could do that then I could deal with that. Mine's a 2008 non MMI.

Dash looks like this right?

Can't you change the digital readout in the center of your cluster to read as a digital speedo instead of fuel consumption and others with the right stalk buttons?

That's a B8 (2009+). DrTofu has a 2008 B7. B7 does not have digital speed display on the DIS.

Matt,

You can change from km's to miles using VAG-COM, but it will only make the change on your odometer. It can't "recalibrate" the speedometer to reflect MPH. It's ridiculous that Audi doesn't have miles simply indicated on the speedo.

Your other option would be to measure speed via GPS. You can d/l a couple of apps to your iPhone that will work. If you had NAV I could have shown you how to show GPS speed on the head unit.
