90 Octane @ Husky/Mohawk
So last Thursday evening (Oct 7th), I filled up my A4 with a 90 at Husky. As of today, 1 week already, my tank is still half-full which is unusual, because whenever I pump gas at 91 at Shell or Esso, a full tank would only last me a week to be exact.... and need to fill it up again.
My question is, I understand the Husky gas contains ethanol and while all the rest that does not can give me a better mileage... but I guess Im getting better mileage with ethanol. This is my first time with 90 too, would that have made the difference?
Help!

Re: 90 Octane @ Husky/Mohawk
I just bought a 96 A4 with the 2.8 and am experimenting with different fuel. the Platinum pioneer seems to get good mileage 80% hwy. I'm 38 and basically drive the same all the time ie. med acceleration and 120 on the hwy. This week I'm trying the mid grade 91 oct petrocan and don't seem to get the same results with mileage(less). I'm not a pro but the performance is the same from mid to high grades of gas. I live in the Trenton area which is drastically cheaper than TO so I don't worry about that aspect. The be all end all is more money in my pocket for me the better

Be aware that Octane levels have nothing to do with better or worse mileage. Octane level is the anti-knock or detonation characteristics of the fuel. I say if the cheapest 91 or better works for you go for it. I have posted up some debatable issues concerning ethanol but hey they are theoretical.

Re: 90 Octane @ Husky/Mohawk
thanks for all your inputs on this.
i guess my next noobie question would be, how much of a difference does putting 90 octane going to make knowing that the recommended is 91 on it? i tried to search the forum regarding this but i guess since husky has stop selling 90 octane in a lot of parts in canada, thats probably why i had no luck. so hoping for your input on this as well.

Just for your interest, where I live Husky has discontinued their Ron 94 and dropped their highest Ron number down to 91. No good for me as I am running an APR stage 2 (I could reprogram back to Stage 1 but am hooked on the extra power!). So it's Chevron for me where 104 is available. From what I understand, Husky was purchasing their 104 from an outside supplier that was ethanol - free. They have a printed explanation available at their outlets which I read and threw away. They basically blame the change on a special government exemption that expired and wasn't renewed. I searched their website and couldn't find any explanation there - I guess they just want to bury it.
