Default 2007 - When to replace factory HID Xenon headlights??

Hey,

Quick question, when do people generally replace HID lightbulbs?

Been noticing mine have dimmed over the years, is it around the 5 year mark?

i want to do this aswell and get yellow bulbs, does audi sell yellow? and how much does the dealer charge to change bulbs

If they are working I wouldn't change them, I believe the cost of the bulbs alone is pretty high..If they are dimming over the years could it be the plastic on the headlights is getting weathered and might just need to be cleaned up? If you know for sure that it is dimming it might not be the bulb it could be the ballast which again is not a cheap part either..

I know from audi uptown in markham, they charge $251 per bulb, and $120 for installing both.

The install is really easy, even on my larger 3.2L engine - need to more air box or power steering reservoir.

You should be able to get bulbs (good OEM replacements) for about $150 or less per bulb..

despite what the dealers say, you can do one at a time, as long as you get same later on... if you want to change colors, obviously do both at the same time

dimming may be the ballast - or a grounding problem. Xenons should never dim, just flicker or die out all together is the best signs of needing a replacement
