Default 2007 A4- B7 Front Brake Anti-Rattle Clip Installation Problem

Just finished installing new pads and rotors on all four tires. Installed Zimmerman rotors and Hawk PC pads. All went well (except for a few bolts that needed a little extra heat to free). My problem is getting the anti-rattle clip, that holds the outside pad in place, to go all the way back in and grab hold of the pad. The tab on the back of the bad is different from what I took off. The old pad had a more substantial tab with a rectangular hole for the clip to sit in. The new Hawk pads have a small tab with a partial crimp on the end. I have really worked at getting this clip seated all the way. I am now getting the feeling that the tab on the back of the new pad might be designed for the "wire" type retaining clip as opposed to my ultra springy flat stock type I have. I double checked the model to make sure they matched my vehicle and they do. Everything fits except these last two cilps. Does it take a Herculian effort to get those in? Anyone have experience with Hawk pads and my model of vehicle.

After contacting Hawk Performance, it appears that they had the wrong model # on their search engine. It appears that I was attempting to do the impossible by trying to get those clips to hold on that model pad. They told me i need the HB 538's not the 515's that their website had prescribed. So i have some 515's for sale, gently used. (rolling the car in and out of the garage)
