2006 A4 Avant Advice
Newbie here!!
Owned lots of Toyota's and Chev's until I drove an A4 S line - Now I'm hooked!
Looking at the attached Avant. Really clean. Std is what I want as well as quattro. So my question is: Is the price in line with the vehicle? Looking for practicality and fun.
I'm mechanically inclined - licensed Mech and degreed Mech Eng - So going into the 2.0T with cam followers issues, oil consumption and window regulators in mind. Staying away from 3.2 because of wacky timing belt servicing rates and no under hood room .
The vehicle:
GVW.ca - 06 Avant with manual
Advice welcome, pricing expected and all input appreciated!
Thanks everybody.

Mech Degree was completed at Queens in Kingston. Too many years ago 97 grad who went back at school at 33 yrs young ('93). Now just turning 50 and looking for a "nice" sedan.
The link is from Guelph Volkswagen www dot gvw dot ca then under "used" and then "Audi".
Sorry for the cryptic urls - under 5 posts prevents direct URL listings....
Hope to exceed 5 postings shortly!

Went on the web site and looked at the car. The mileage is in line and not excessive. The car looks good. I am impressed that it is a standard since most of the Avants were auto. The price does seem reasonable although I think a bit on the high side. Lets see what others think.

Have you been for a test drive in the one at GVW? Doesn't look to be an S-Line so it will have the stock suspension and 17" wheels. You'll likely notice the softer suspension but an upgrade to an RS4 rear sway would probably go a long way to tightening things up for you. Beyond that there aren't a lot of interior differences - satin finish trim vs fish scale; 3 spoke Sport steering wheel; cosmetic front & rear bumpers, slight more direct airflow to the intercoolers.
Enjoy...

IMO, the price is ok. As long as there isn't any accidents. Make sure you get a CarProof report.
BTW, it's not sline. The sline pkg in 2006 was a $4,000 pkg and it was rare at the time because of its price. The only extra option the car has seems to have is Premium pkg, which included 17" wheels and sunroof. I doubt it has Bluetooth since, based on the red "T" on the rear hatch, which means it was an early 2006 model, and BT was added in 2006 but half way through the year.

Re: 2006 A4 Avant Advice
I went by today and checked the Avant over withthout all the "noise" around... Attached are a few pics for better viewing. First impressions - Rims are spotless with no curb rash, centres are intact without peeling, doors and panels are clean without a mark, Windows tinted (could do without). Only gripe is the owner must have backed the tailgate into something as there are a couple of ripples that you don't see in the dealer pictures. Work paintless dent removal in the deal?? I didn't even notice it until after about three turns around the car. Hard to notice really - until of course you do notice! And yes no S Line - but quattro and manual and 2.0T.
Thanks for the feedback!

It's impossible to get a car without any marks on it, after all, this Avant is 5 years old and it has over 80ks. We never paint rear or front bumpers until the vehicle is sold, if we did, people would questions why it was painted.
