2006 A4 2.0T Quattro Winter Tires?
Hey guys - first of all, this is my first post here and my first Audi I'm picking up the vehicle (post-CPO 300 point check) in about 4 days and aside from sheer anticipation, I'm already starting to think about which winter tires I'll need to buy. I live in Ottawa so we get a pretty decent amount of snow and a buttload of ice so I'm looking for 4 winter rims and 4 good tires.
Any suggestions? Budget's about $1,100 max (counting rims)

Best winter tires I've had are Michelin X-Ice. I've tried Blizzaks, and Toyo (can't remember the model) and Dunlop (these were my second favourite).

Congrats ! BTW, there's a group of us locals who try help each other out on this stuff and meet from time to time, if you're unterested. Check out AudiOttawa
Your best bet is to try and find used set of 16" OEM wheels for under $500. I picked up a set of nice alloy wheels (Sport Edition) with winter tires for my GF's A4 online and the cost was $1,100. That said, not all tires are the same when it comes to our winters (Ottawa and surrounding area including country roads/ highways to ski areas incl Tremblant). I've had many different winter tires on 3 different Audi quattro cars and none were as good as 215/55/16 Dunlop Wintersports I had on my B6. The fact that the winter wheels I picked up for it only cost $300. made for a very affordable set of winter shoes - here's a pic ...

I got a set of Dunlop Wintersports on Sport Edition rims from Tirerack.com. Drove to Ogdensburg to pick them up from Latham Auto (registered Tirerack affiliate shop there). No duties to be paid, only taxes at the border. Cannot remember total cost but was $440 cheaper than best deal around Ottawa after factoring gas to Ogdensburg and back.
These are the rims I got - they fit your car and are only $88 each --Link--.
