Do you hold the button or just press on it? Try holding the trunk release button on your remote for 3 seconds or untill it pops open.

I know what your problem is. You will have to take apart the trunk. inside is a metal rod that is connected from the actuator to the release mech. It has bent over time you will have to go in and remove it and bend it back to the way it was. now all it will take is hand pressure to bend it back. Its not hard to remove it and put it back.

Good luck

Did you find the proper rod? I will take it apart tomorrow and take a picture of the steel rod that you need to bend
