Tires... the never ending story!

Tires... the never ending story!
I am currently driving on Pirelli winter tires and am getting my OEM rims re-finished and will need new rubber on them.
Presently I am looking at Falken products.
I would like to ask you people here what you have or consider having for summer tires?
Your feedback is valued and I am sure will help others as well!

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
Great tire list. I'm actually in the same situation, and I'm getting the Bridgestone RE760 Sport. However, the price posted by MattRaczka is better than the price i was quoted. Where is simply tires? Can you post a phone number.

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
I got prices for a set of 225/45/17:
Falken 452's were $920,
Bridgestone Re 050's $1,234, and
Micheline Pilot Sports $1,099.
I went with the Pilot Sports, consistently rated very highly.

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
I have both:
Kumho Ecsta ASX - $750.00 - on my 03 Avant (came with the car)
Michelin Pilot Sport - $1,340.00 - on my 2000 Jetta VR6
I do like the Pilot ride, look and cornering abilities. However at almost double the price... your driving style and budget will help you decide

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
The price I paid for the Pilots ($1099) included taxes, balance, stems & install. Only $170 more than a Falken, which doesn't have near the development budget of Michelin. When you buy a tire, you buy the history of the company and it's racing development heritage. Few can match Michelin for that.

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
Purchased Michelin Pilot Sports 235/45/17 for a little over $1K from TireTrends in BC. Also only pay one tax as out of province sale. Archie is a good guy as we've purchased many sets of tires and wheels from him! Great prices and fast shipping too.

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
One argument I heard again-and-again is that Michelin while it has the development funds does not sell anything into the market place which can be considered a "true" performance only tire.
I am pricing Falken FK-452s and ZE912s in Edmonton and for sure this is not the GTA market! I have been here for 11 months and this too is distressing me...
For my 235/45R17 requirement the best price to date on Falkens FK-452 is around $1,100 and $1,000 fro ZE912 all in local here in Edmonton.
Great feedback so far! MattRaczka has a thread named "Tires..." he started yesterday: check it out!

Re: Tires... the never ending story!
I'm in Ottawa and have been trying to find a Nordfrost 5 to replace one that was damaged over the winter. While calling around I did some pricing on 235/45-17 summers and found Pirelli P Zero Nero's for 190 each. Anyone have experience with these?
I've used several different Yokohama's in the past and been very happy. I have Kumo Ecsta's on one car right now and while they seem to wearing well they are vague at the limit, not really progressive.
I installed Falkens Ziex 712's on my wife's car and am very happy witht he performance, however they have worn quickly even though me wife is not at all aggressive with them.
