FWIW:
Take a look at Bridgestone Potenza re960 AS Pole position... Top rated on Tire rack for all season max performance. 40,000km Treadwear warranty 90day buy and try warranty. Traction AA. 235/45-17s are load/speed rated @ 94W (149mph) and they'll ship for about $950 all in... (local shops want about $1150 all in, on the car) Then you need them mounted/balanced etc... My boss runs them on his 535xi as all seasons, and I'm planning to put a set on my A4 in the beginning of May as a summer tire, they're on sale right now too... $75 off on a set of 4... I run Blizzaks for the winter, but the re960's are supposed to be pretty decent as a true all season tire... Good siping and water evacuation, and a multicell tread compound...

Good luck!

Brembo Slotted Rotors
Hawk Ceramic Break pads

These are the things I would buy my friend I would go with slotted because even if you read the warranty on the cross drilled ones they are not guaranteed because they are known to crack break etc easier than these

Tirerack.com time and time for me has proven to beat pretty much any price out there by 25% or more with shipping included

Thanks guys for the helpful info

I did some comparison based on the reviews/ratings etc and am split between
Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (400AA A) and
Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport (340AA)

1move: Is this a big difference in rating (UHQG Data) that i mentioned in the braces above. and given the price different 32$ more for RE960AS is it worth it?

I want to use these tires for summer only and want to get it right as i would drive 8-10K miles every summer and i will be using these tires for the next 3-4 years

the tires i currently have on my car say 225/45-17 .. do you think the guy before me had the wrong tires on because when i select 2004 A4 1.8T on tirerack.com it shows the size for that car to be 235/45-17

Make sure you take into account any border duties and also the fact that A.I.M.'s price is usually installed and balanced. I've always wanted to try tirerack but A.I.M. has always been close in price.

Tire Rack now has a full price breakout for Canadian customers... Shipping, duty, GST, customs brokerage, provincial tire tax... ALL IN...

LIke Malby7, I've found that my local dealer has been very competitive... His quote to me on RE960AS's was $1125 all in, on the car, lifetime balance, rotation, flat repair etc... Tire rack was about $923.57 Delivered to my address + approx $100-$120 remove old tires/mount/balance etc...$1045... so $80 difference, and he has taken really good care of any problems I've had related to tires.

If you can find a good shop, they have ways of making it worth your while to work with them. Don't get me wrong, I think tire rack is great, and there are lots of tire dealers out there to take as much of your money as they can, so if/when I find a good business to deal with I try to support them.

Cheers!
