Starting issues: long cranking

Re: Starting issues: long cranking
I have also just starting experiencing this exact problem. Would love to hear of any solutions. Might save some $$$ troubleshooting and throwing parts at the problem. Any info appreciated.

Re: Starting issues: long cranking
I know this was a while ago. And I've actually sold the car since. But wanted to post the fix which I should of done at the time.
Turns out when I replaced the OEM pump with a 034 high flow pump I used a rubber fuel line from the sending unit to the pump (inside the tank). It was a fuel line intended to be used outside a fuel tank. There is a difference. You MUST use a fuel line intended for use submerged in fuel. When I removed the line it was very soft and it had split due to the pressure.
On shut down the fuel was just draining out of the line and the timed prime that the pump would complete was not be enough for engine start.

Re: Starting issues: long cranking
Looking for a little help on trouble shooting a starting issue I've recently developed.
Lately my car will crank long, about 10-15 cranks before it fires. The engine then stumbles a little then idles fine and runs fine. It doesn't happen all the time. Seems to be the worst if I shut it down and try to start to an hour or so after. If it sits over night it's 50/50 that it will happen. Also if it's cold, below 0 no problem starting. above or close to 0 is when it happens.
I replaced my pump and filter about a month ago (pump was making noise) May be related.
Replaced coolant temp sensor. no fix.
Looking at fuel pump relay, crankshaft position sensor, or leaky fuel injector possibly.
So far I haven't tried a vag just because I don't have access to one.
Just looking for some advice from people who may have had a similar issue.
Thanks in advance.
