sick of problems! you! audi b6 a4!
i have 2004 audi a4 b6 sedan model...
i bought this vehicle 3 years ago..
3years ago:
Accident/Claims: NON
KMS:ONLY 43,000KM
Owenrs: only1!
now i had this vehicle for three years and sick of it(100,000km).. i cant take care of it anymore...
the most serious problem was transmission. Two years ago i changed whole transmission...due to transmission failure. It costed me $7000 CAD WOW..(Automatic 6speed tiptronic).
Also it keep making problemss.....again...and again...$300....$550...$250....$440....
the problem were mostly engine and tranny part..and today! while driving my audi..and suddenly it made stupid sound and vibrates very hard..i think it was just simple coil problem but it wasn't! i bring it to my mechanic and its about the gasket problem...moreover the tubes that connected to the turbo something is totally broken cause the tube is the plastic and couldn't survive from the heat...so now i cant start the car! LOL! and the total cost would be $600 AGAIN!! LMAO!!!
honestly, i spent over $12,000 CAD!!
seriously i really love all audi cars but WHY? only my car ? what about ur cars?
any problem so far? do i have to keep drive this or just sell it ???

So far in 27000km's I changed a headgasket, some bulbs, fuel tank sender, oil/filter and rear brakes/pad.
(When I bought the car the sender was due so did the gasket and brakes)
Oh, I also changed :
- Exhaust Line
- Turbo
- Cat
- Intercooler
- M.A.F.
- Injectors
- Shift ****
- Wheels
- Clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pushrod and flywheel
But non of those were broken.
Sometimes a low km car is worst then a high km car. I.e. : A high kilometer car that did its km on the hghway > A low km car that did its km in the city

Re: sick of problems! you! audi b6 a4!
dustlr905, your car is frightening!
My B6 is from 2003, stock. I bought it at 160k km and she's just passed 204k km, and appart from the normal maintenance (bulbs, wipers, oil change, brakes...), I had a few front control arms, bearings, and some gasket seals.
And one costly operation: changing oil and 3 seals on the Tiptronic transmission (rear shaft, pan and electrical command cable, due to leaks), on which Audi had the nice idea to change the part connecting it to the rear shaft as it was often leaking transmission oil: new part was 400$, plus 3 seals plus several hours of work Above 1k.

I only got my 2004 A4 a year ago, with low mileage. Not too much going on with it though.
Brake light switch, $11
Just today had to swap out the window regulator, $85
Everything else just regular maintenance with an 8 year old car; new battery, headlight bulb (which I ended up just changing out for HIDs), fog light bulbs, brake pads.

I feel your pain! I bought my a4 at 70k clicks and all of the problems started. I was n the shop dealer every two weeks. I swore never to buy another audi. The good thing was that throughout that time I had an Assured warranty that took care of some things. Since my warranty expired, I have had very little problems. However, the scars are deep. My next car will be a porche or a BMW.
My only hope for you is that the pain will end and that it will become problem free.
Now, the real problems I had was with my previous audi a4 2001. I still can't talk about it!
One thing for sure, mew need more competition for Audi in the Ottawa region. There is only one dealer and he has his way with vulnerable clients.

I hear you about the al the issues with the 2004 B6 A4. I bought mine used with 50,000 KM in Calgary with a certified warranty. Within months of owning it, I start to have the first of many problems. First, and within days of owning it, the driver’s side window stropped working, then I had a problem with a fuel pump 5 months later, after that I have an oxygen sensor fail on me and finally there was an issue with the cam sensor that stopped me from starting it. Thankfully all of these problems were covered under my extended warranty leaving me to pay for only some of the small items that weren’t covered.
Unfortunately it didn’t stop there after the warranty expired. I had an oil sludge problem on the way home from Jasper that almost killed my car, the tubing to the turbo has failed twice in the last year, there is still a leak in the coolant system that no one can seem to find and I have had to replace the coils and caskets more times than I can count. That’s just the mechanical side of things. Inside the windows work on and off (currently not working at all again), the hinge on the glove compartment has broken when it was closed with little force, the rear left brake light needs to be replaced every 4 months and the black color seems to be pealing from me cleaning my car too much. I’m sure that there have been other issues but I think that I am purposely blocking them out of my mind,
With all that said, I still love driving my car. I do a lot of HWY miles and there is nothing like this little car for the money when I head up in to the mountains outside for Calgary or when the roads get a bit slick through the winter. I admit that I am worried something will break on my long drives, but that’s why I invested in AMA again this year. I have looked at BMW as a replacement, but keep coming back to my 2004 A4 since the style and ride is so good. It is about time for me to move on to a new car, and I think I will step back into another A4 again, but I hope the newer ones come with a few less problems. I guess my 2004 A4 is like my golf game. There are some days where it really pisses me off, it cost me a fortune, but I can’t wait to get back out there again.

Wow sucks to hear about everyone's issues with the A4 , i feel lucky mine hasnt had any major issues and i purchased it with 110,000km .. lol , The only main issue i had was the water pump failing but that was expected with such high mileage , and an oil leak which happened due to the dipstick exploding.. (again knew this was to happen at some point lol ) other then that just regular maintenance and shes been running like a beaut .

Having bought an a4 b6 3.0 just a month and a half ago, hearing about such experiences makes me shudder. Especially coming from owning a different brand in the past with only brake pads and oil changes done as maintenance. Sorry to hear about your problems!

Re: sick of problems! you! audi b6 a4!
wow, bad luck with that car! I bought my 04A4 with 60K on the clock. Two days later I had to replace the wiper assembly because it seized. Luckily I didn't burn the motor out. Stuck at a Calgary dealership on a Friday afternoon and go hosed for more than $600 for some emission leak. My Audi guy just smiled when I showed him the bill, and interestingly, the dealership did not identify the codes on my invoice, so I really don't know what they did.
Beware Audi dealerships in Canada, especially if you're a lowly A4 owner. This forum might consider providing an inventory of Audi specialists across Canada to protect us from dealership abuse.
