premium or regular?

Re: premium or regular?
I do realize Audi says one change/yr or every 16000km. But, the boys at Cap Audi say otherwise. I've also heard other high-end mech shops mentioning how very important it is to run clean/fresh full syn oil with the turbo models. Therefore, I'll stick with x2 oil changes per year, despite what you say and what is specified by Audi.
Secondly, I just received a supplement letter from Audi Canada. They write, all 2000-2003 A4 and TT models should have their timing belts inspected due to timing belt failure prior to what is specified in the maintenance booklet (167000km). It goes on to inform me to take it to my dealership so they can preform a free-of-charge inspection over this matter.
Case in point; even Audi gets it wrong sometimes.

Re: premium or regular?
Adding a somewhat dissenting point of view here - I double checked the owners manual of my 2003 1.8t and it states that while a minimum of 91 octane is reccomended running anything that is 88? (sorry don't have the manual with me at the moment but it's saying regular gas) or higher will not damage the engine but will result in reduced performance. My understanding is that the engine computer will change the timing to eliminate any knock but the downfall will be the loss in performance. I'm not a mechanic, so if there is one out there please feel free to enlighten!

Yeah Chevron's disappeared shortly after I moved here just shy of 10 years ago. Only place in Calgary aside from the occasional Race Trak Gas to get higher than 91 is Husky. I use the 94 in my Mustang and it runs pretty well in there, but my wife's Jetta 2.5 hates Husky/Mohawk gas.
