Exclamation Plea for help! no power to driver side rear door

I have a 2002 Audi A4 3.0L Quattro which I love. Several weeks ago, however, the back left window would just not roll up. After playing with the switches for several minutes it moved a little but then stopped again almost right away. Upon further inspection I noticed that the door did not have an power... the lights at the bottom of the door would not turn on when opened, the dome lights stay on when the door is shut, when the car is locked via remote that door stays unlocked (the security light does not flash, I also don't hear a beep), using the lock cylinder did nothing. After talking to some mechanics, I bought a new wiring harness for the driver door. This allowed the other three doors to lock via lock cylinder now but still not the driver rear door. (side note: The power locks have never worked with the buttons on the inside of the car, and replacing the wiring harness in the driver door still did not fix this) I also took off the door panel so I could remove the window motor, slide up the window manually (which did not grind re:regulator), and then I screwed the motor back on.

I have a vag-com system from Ross-Tech and lots of time. If any one here has any advice for me I would greatly appreciate it! I hate the wind noise from the window and the fact that my door doesn't lock.

Thank you, AudiForum community.

scan the car and see what codes you get, my footwell lighting fuse went out and caused me all kinds of grief with about 5 codes, it might give you a place to start looking, also pull the boot apart going from the car to the door, see if theres any broken wires, i see your in winnipeg if you need a hand let me know, i have all kinds of tools and do stuff like this all the time

Thanks for the response, seanf!

I checked the wires and they looked great... the driver door was pretty bad though, that's why I replaced that harness last week. Here are the pertinent scan results:

Any ideas? I'm hoping it's not the motor/electronics, as it's quite expensive ($400ish)... I guess that's what happens when Audi uses Siemens electronics for a power window. Good grief ha ha

check the door module, see if theres a fuse for it in the panel, if you need parts call up team auto they have an 02 there right now in the yard, they saved me a ton of cash last week.

I checked out Team Auto's website and sent them an email. I've checked all the fuses before and not one was blown. You said check the control module. Which one is that and what am I looking for? I already have the door panel off of the rear left door, so it would take me no time at all

the door communication module, or whatever module it is that throwing the codes, id check the ross tech wiki and see if theres any troubleshooting steps for some of the codes your throwing.

I think its the central conv module that controls all that, if you do change it out make sure you write down the workshop code and soft code #'s of the original in there so when you swap it out it will be easy to recode.

Hey seanf! You said Team Auto saved you a ton of cash a while ago, what did you end up getting? I'm in peg for the weekend and hope to get down there Monday after lunch.

I just realized it's right near Winnipeg Wheel Works. I brought a rim there 2 weeks ago... now I can kill 2 birds with one stone!

i got an abs pump, master cyl and i went in the yard and rummaged around and got an hvac flap motor and rear heated seat switches, in total i spent $260 for the pump and master cyl and $20 for the misc stuff i grabbed, they have one blue 02 a4 in the back of the yard, the pass side was hit hard but the rear doors are still there, also whatever they have stripped off it probably is on a shelf in their warehouse, bring tools and go have a look

I'm a little miffed! I called Team Auto this morning to confirm they had the motor I needed, and they did for $75. That was all good because it's $400 at the dealer (I think) and the cheapest I can find online is $260. I got there and after waiting a while they said they didn't have one They said that it must have sold but wasn't taken out of inventory... Boo! Taking the perimeter from charleswood was 40 minutes... what a waste of time. Do you know of any other places I can contact?

seanf, I just wanted to say thanks for all the help you offered me on this issue and explain how I resolved my problem. After replacing the window motor in the rear left door, and the wiring harness in the driver door, it still didn't work. I finally purchased the wiring harness for the rear left door and it finally worked! Looking back I should've done that first, but you live and you learn.

Cheers,
JTrizzo
