No oil level display

No oil level display
The oil level display was working but now shows "There is currently no information available about the oil level"
and how do you check the oil? There is what looks like a dip stick tube in front of the engine but the cover is just a plug. No dipstick. Go figure.
Any ideas ?

The dip stick is not broken off and the stub is standard. A few members have purchased the full dip stick as mentioned above and that is something that I would do for sure.
