NEW coil-packs tomorrow...could I ask to keep the old ones?
Hey guys...I'm taking in my car to get the new coil-packs installed for free
But I was just wondering if I could ask my dealership to keep the old ones just incase or it might even come in handy to anyone else in this forum...
Thanks
Myron

Are you getting them all replaced for free??
Are they all throwing codes? I understood that they would only the replace the coils that were throwing codes.

are you serious????
i thought they were replacing all the coil packs whether they were throwing codes or not because the revised version is more durable...
i don't want my coilpack to fail and cause engine damage just because its working NOW and will most likely fail in the future...

To answer your question though, you can keep any part they take off your car. Unless it has a core charge in which case you can still keep it if you want to pay the core charge.
So yes you should be able to keep them, if they say otherwise they are technically stealing from you.
The only business allowed to steal from people is ICBC. You don't have to worry about them in Toronto though.

I went in to change mine and they only changed the one that was malfunctioning.. from what I understand the MIL light would have to be on and the code would have to register in order for them to change them.. though it migh depend on which audi dealership you go to..
