Default Loss of propulsive power FYI guys

I experienced a complete loss of propulsive power intermittently at low speeds with my A4 avant....(2004). CVT automatic...and nothing showed on error lamps or check engine. Since is was still on dealer warranty the mechanic really had to search around and troubleshoot to sort this out. No error codes either.

Turned out to be a faulty brake switch which cuts power to the engine. Simple part and simple fix but was a real head scratcher.

just FYI

Apparently this is a common fault that robs power completely. Makes the engine think the brake is depressed even when it isn't.

Thanks for the info.

same hear, but from an ABS sensor, causing havoc in the computer making it think loosing control, and cuts power to engine, however at 50km'h it disables the abs alltogether
