Default Help resetting computer after oil change

Can anyone help me figure out how to reset the computer to think it's just had an oil change? Which it did. B6 A4 1.8t. I found something in the manual on page 136, but it doesn't work for me.

You may need a VAG-COM if what's on the manual doesn't work...

To be honest I'm surprised the manual procedure didn't work for you. Not that I've tried, but from what I've read on AW it seems to work for most people. Have you tried asking your dealership to do it for you? They may not mind just giving you a hand for something that minor...

Try this:

The following has worked on the B6 A4, and may vary on models. With the car OFF, press and hold the Service (Wrench) button as you turn the ignition ON (do not start engine). While the Service button is still pressed, press the RESET (0, 0) button, and your service interval indicator will now be reset.

Okay, that worked this time. I guess I must have been doing something wrong. NOW it just has _ _ _ _ Kilo to service, _ _ _ _ Days to service. Any idea how to get it set? This is very frustrating. I'm gonna have to get a laptop and vag-com I guess.

Akula, I would ask the dealer to do it for me but they are an hour and a half away....

I don't think you've taken out the settings for the reminder but just reset the counter; I'd think that should go away in a couple days/after a few kms.

Thanks for your help, I ordered a Bentley from ECS Tuning and it should be here soon, hopefully I can start learning and being more self sufficient. I reset the counter before the service light came on because I did the oil change sooner because it was a little dirty. The manual says not to reset it before the service reminder comes on.....I read that AFTER....

Ah.. That could make things a little weird indeed. O well, once you (finally) get a VAG-COM, you'll almost certainly be able to remedy that.

By the way, will you be going to the Audi Expo at Burien?
